Give the dude some credit. He came back and got his degree after making it to the show, and had the self awareness to make fun of his youthful stupidity. More power to him

I loved it a couple years ago when my Badger fan neighbors thought Sam Dekker was going to bypass the NBA draft to come back for his degree.
That made Mrs. Headband curious what his major was so we looked it up: Undecided. And he was a junior! I said, "Unless he's getting a degree in Undecided Studies, I think he's going to go pro."
I wonder what his grade was in English Composition.

Agreed. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me what his degree is in. He put in the time to go back and get it even though he's got a nearly $3M contract with Buffalo (and likely got a couple hundred K from tOSU boosters). Congrats to him on this accomplishment and for making fun of himself in the process.

Believe he took Dentonics "wear gramma no matta".
Wags and Stache nailed it. Young man deserves credit on multiple levels.
Seems to me to be pretty incompatible to both get pissed about the UNC scandal and criticize Cardale's and other athletes' degrees. I know how I come out - congrats to Cardale (and his ability to poke fun at himself).

Depends. We sure there's nothing about Cardale's degree that would put it in the same category as the UNC stuff? Cheating, fake classes, etc?

I don't know and neither do you. And yeah it's not like he is majoring in nuclear physics, but why be cynical?

To start with, he didn't go to UNC.
Also, give the kid the benefit of the doubt - yes there is a lot of 'easy' ways for an athlete to get their degree but let's not blame all for the issues of some.

Feels like you're going through some stuff in life that makes you take the grumpy cynic position as a default.
Apologies, my point was poorly worded/made. What I had meant to say is that I don't think people can be mad at UNC for their scandal and then also turn around and criticize student-athletes' choices in majors. I think you have to pick a side on where you come out on the validity and value of the education being provided to student athletes and the choices those athletes make within that framework.
The UNC case highlights institutions' eagerness to systematically funnel top athletes into meaningless degrees without academic rigor or career marketability for the purpose of keeping them eligible on Saturdays. As an institution, its UNC saying "we don't care what our degrees are worth, and/or don't care about our student athletes after they stop making us money." When the universities themselves are conveying that message, it seems pretty cruel to turn around and then make light of the athletes' majors and academic achievements.

Why would tOSU run the risk of bogus classes, cheating, etc., for a kid who doesn't even play there? And why would a kid bother with going through the process for the sake of a phony degree?
These kids can't win with some of you. If they leave early to go earn money, they're making a mockery of the student-athlete ideal, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.
If they go back to school and earn their degree, well then it's probably a result of cheating and fake classes.
Who gives a shyte what his major was? An entitled, immature 19 year old kid is, at 23 or 24, a grounded young man who valued his degree enough to return to school even though he didn't "need" to - AND while he was at it had the self awareness and sense of humor to poke fun at himself!
He's now my favorite NFL backup QB.

I sure don't care about this. More power to the players for that decision.
Yes, I am cynical. It happens.
Yea, but it's only a degree from that school in Ohio...
Go Blue!

It does and we all are. Doesn't mean I'm not a sucker for a story like this. Hope I always am.
