Some people pooh-poohed the lack of an MVP at the awards banquet. Now you get to make the choice.
I can't decide....so I understand why it was so difficult for them to pick one
When it comes down to it, you take Fischer off of this team and we are much worse off than if it were anyone else. In my mind it has to be Luke.
I went Katin, Villanova game being the push over the top with so many people being equal.
Katin
One of the better defenders some key shooting and a lot more assists than I expected.

One game does not make an MVP.
Markus
Sam, he played out of position, had to cover the 4, solid smart player who could score and rebound for us. The quiet strength of our team.
Markus. Should have been second team all BE.
Statitically, it was between Luke and Markus. Could have seen an argument for both. Give the nod to Luke for seniority and consistency
Getting Rowsey into the starting lineup turned the season around when we were faltering after the Nova win. Not only his skillset and ability to score, but he was also the only guy on the roster with any kind of chippiness to him. That was much needed. When the team would get bullied (Seton Hall, South Carolina) he was the only one who showed any ability to push back.
I think Markus was our best player this year, but Sam was most important. So I went with Sam. He definitely exceeded expectations for this year and had great contributions in scoring and rebounding.
M2N, aina?
Those 16 were all at a table last night n stormed out muttering something about Lukes fg%

Wasnt there but I believe his eFG% (much more significant than fg%) was top three in the conference. Imagine how high it would have been if he didn't suck!
Picked Rowsey. Just think he had the edge and ignited our push to make the tournament. A bit of an acclimation at first bit imo our best player.

What's happening in Portsmouth?
It's Rowsey. Even with the very limited run time he got before the conference season (and really up until the first providence game) he managed to be one of the more standout players. His stats would be on top had he gotten real play time at the beginning.

My numbers say Rowsey was our third best player. And yes, they adjust for amount of run a player got. Still damn good, but I think and the stats show that Markus and Luke were a step ahead of everybody else. You could even put Rowsey in a group with them because the gap between Rowsey and them is smaller than the gap between Rowsey and the fourth best player.
I would cast my lot with JJJ.

Sandy Cohen and Traci Carter.....the Most Vamoosed Players
Marcus, and not just for his shooting. The guy showed the leadership skills of a senior as a frosh....

Trying to determine if you mean that in the historical sense, or if "cast" and "lot" is a euphemism.
I think Wojo's future teams will be similar to this year's team in that 9 players can step up and be SOTG. He will not rely on one player to lead, rather he will put several players in position to win us the game. So, moving forward, I think each year we may have the conversation of the entire team MVP--with several individuals stepping up just not necessarily the same person each game.
I said Katin. He was key when MU was pressed with the small guards, could be a playmaker at times, but wanted the ball in tough situations. Was a chucker early but adjusted well, including coming off the bench to add energy.
I said Markus. But cases can be made for Luke, KR and Rowsey. Truth be told, we would have been really challenged if any of the top 7-8 really struggled.

Who?
sorry. damn auto-correct.
JJJ, just because he's my favorite
It's interesting that 3 or 4 said Katin, given that a month into the season many Scoopers wanted him run out of town. I don't think it was Katin, but he certainly was one of our more valuable.
I grew to like and appreciate Rowsey a ton, but I place him out of the top couple. He did bring the "chippiness" as a few said, but he wasn't the only one (also as some said). Katin and Duane did, too.
I like Luke but if the season turns in part because you're one of the players benched, it's hard to say you're the MVP.
That leaves me with the two freshmen. As much as I value the many things Sam did well, I have to go with the guy who led the entire country in 3-point percentage, especially given that 3-pointers basically defined our team. Markus improved as a point guard, he willingly challenged bigs and he led the team in scoring.
I went with Markus. Maintaining his efficiency with the highest usage on the team, led the team in assist rate, eFG%, and 3PFG%. Fischer would be second for me, but the way he tailed off near the end of the year made the difference.
