and 15 in AP
West Virginia lost 8 votes in the process: 24 votes last week (good for #29) to 16 votes this week (good for #30).. beat #11 ranked team after losing to ND (who is ironically ranked #29 this week).
with regards to MU's ranking.. just looking at the records of teams around us it's about right or even a little generous.. we're the 2nd highest ranked team with 2 losses with #13 texas being the other one and they have 2 more wins than we do.
Loss costs MU in poll
Less than a day after turning in a poor showing in a 79-64 loss at West Virginia, the Marquette Golden Eagles dropped five spots in the Associated Press' media poll released Monday afternoon.
MU (11-2, 1-1 Big East) dropped from 10th to 15th. Indiana, Texas A&M, Texas, Vanderbilt and Butler all jumped ahead of the Golden Eagles, who host Seton Hall Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Bradley Center.

Great, so is Butler going to make it up to #5 before they get upset at another mighty Horizon League team? I don't see them challenged until Feb 5 at Valpo and Feb 9 at UWGB.

The ranking of mid-majors in the last few years has resembled Catholic guilt of the 70s/80s: it happens moreso because of the repercussions rather then the merit of its achievement.

Well its good that Butler had such a tough OOC schedule cuz lord knows they wouldn't have been prepared to challenge the Mighty Horizon league otherwise.
