Dang those Jesuits with their University of Detroits and their Gonzagas and their Fordhams!
Why can't they be like other Catholic orders and have every single one of their schools be "Saint" something or "Holy" whatever!
Tricksters, that's what they are!
It took me a moment too.
Religious affiliation no matta, hey?

Ha! I stand corrected. The brain doesn't think about religious orders on Friday mornings.
My daughter -- who attends a Jesuit HS -- is very happy this morning. One of her teachers told the class they could have five bonus points if a Jesuit school made the FF.
Not only a Jesuit school, but a non-football school.
Gotta be driving the football schools crazy.

good point. feels like BE has to prove itself every year to the Football Conferences (even with Nova win).
I can't keep up with all these allegiances any more, Marquette, Big East, Jesuit school, earth, galaxy, universe, etc.

St. Aloyusius Gonzaga is an Italian Jesuit saint, but I am sure you already know that.

This is the dilemma. Do I root for the school that shares a name with our legendary coach, or the school that shares a name with the first Jesuit pontiff?

Age old question.

The truly Jesuit response would be to root for our profits.

That look of steely determination favors Al G. Plus Frank X. lost a toe along the way (granted, posthumously) so he'll be a step slow.
