Title: No rest for the weary
Post by: MilTown on January 07, 2008, 10:40:13 AM
The Big East schedule is pretty intense with quick turnarounds. One day to prepare for SH. I haven't seen them play all year. Anyone have a scouting report?

Similar to last year's team in that they rely moreso on the quickness of the wings/guards then the beef down low. They have some bigs but don't necessarily utilize them. It's a little bit of a poor man's MU offense. They like to score. Will look for the shots quite quickly. Defense is terrible. Not having Gause should really hamper their chances at a win. Isn't a lot of depth so MU must exploit that with aggressiveness.

Thanks for the information. So, should be closer than the Providence game, but end with W ? Realistically, we should beat SH, especially at home?

I don't know a single thing about this Seton Hall team, but I would be absolutely shocked if they were within 15 points by garbage time tomorrow.

This is on ESPN Weekly Watch regarding tomorrow's game

By Reggie Rankin
Scouts Inc.'s Reggie Rankin takes a look at six upsets that could happen this week:

• Tuesday: Seton Hall over Marquette, ESPN Full Court, 9 p.m. ET
The strong perimeter play of Seton Hall will match up well against the triplets of Marquette. Senior swing man Brian Laing headlines this deep group of highly productive perimeter players. Laing (6-5, 215 pounds) attacks off the bounce and can finish in the lane, leading the team in scoring and is the best perimeter rebounder and defender. Scoring point guard Eugene Harvey has excelled in the Pirates' up-tempo style. Add freshman jump shooter Jeremy Hazell and senior Jamar Nutter, and Seton Hall has a great opportunity for an upset on the road. Dominic James, Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews will have their hands full with this gang of Pirates

What Rankin fails to mention is that Nutter has been a no-show this season until he exploded versus Morgan State on the weekend. Gonzalez has been moving guys in and out and Nutter couldn't crack (sorry about the pun) the rotation until Gause went down. Nutter has skills but I'm not sure he's a consistent option at this point (at the rematch he may be).

SH troubled MU a little bit last season in Milwaukee and MU eventually pulled away. It should be the same way. The difference between the Pirates and the Friars is that Seton Hall still has a PG to keep the ship at the least in the water which should keep the game under more control then any of the last 30 minutes of PC.
