Title: Jjj's swan song
Post by: Mr. Sand-Knit on March 18, 2017, 07:53:26 AM
Jujuan johnson has been prolly the most maddening player i have watched in 40 years of following MU ball.  Much of it was clearly to do with his high ranking coming out of HS.  Clearly if his high school ranking was that of Bart Millers we would have said he had a really good career.  His decision making and on again off again motor were maddening over his career.  Highlight reel for 5 minutes and then infuriating for the next 5.  I can only imagine the frustration of the coaches.

This we all know.

Really proud of Jjj last night tho.  After his two jjj like turnovers to start the game he was really really good.  He was the player that i had always hoped him to be.  The calm in the eye of the storm, the athlete to make the play.  Kudos to jjj that in a really tough moment with the chips stacked aginst him he made play after play for his team.  Will be a truly fond memory for me of jjj going out like a Warrior.

If JJ played all year like he played last night, MU would have won 2-3 more games.    It was a joy watching him stand up last night.   The morning after, it leads to ruminations about what might have been.      Thanks for your time at MU, JJ.

Honestly the fact he gave 1/2 of them praise is a win.

Man I'm gonna miss JJ

Not in the next millennium......

That being said.....His "circumstance" at MU was not great.....I give him credit for sticking it out.....

I am glad he got to play in an NCAA tourney game.....

iI wish him luck......

Miss him.....Not one iota.....

JJ was awesome.  Nailed some shots in the first half, while the team still had the fight.  Was pretty clear that the early second half message from Wojo was that we needed to get to the basket.  It was the right call, though we weren't capable of it.  Howard got it, but couldn't do it - JJ got it and managed to deliver a few times.

U honestly think anything luke did since christmas deserved praise?  The freshman from estonia destroyed him.  Given the season being over tho i will give praise that it have finally come to an end

I thin of JJJ as the the embodiment of MU during his time here.  Great potential occasionally realized, baffling moments, generally maddening inconsistency, but slow improvement over time.

I think almost everybody seriously underestimates the effect of Fischer's bum shoulder, he gave us what he had but was never 100% and could never get in the weight room like everyone would have liked. Congrats to the seniors for helping getting us back to the dance.

Yep, the shoulder the first two summers and the arm last summer.  He literally lost all 3 summers of conditioning work and being able to work on expanding his game.

No matter what he did, good or bad, JjJ was always one of the most entertaining cats out there.  I will miss having him on our team.

Jamil was more maddening in my mind. He wasn't a 4 year player, but he had the size/athleticism/skill that should have made him a lottery pick.

But JJJ was certainly up there. Those two had similarities, and moments during games where they did things that no one else in a Marquette uniform could do.

But ultimately they both left you wanting a little more (consistency).

Respect JJJ for sticking with the program through the coaching change, and glad he was able to end his senior year by finally getting to the big dance (and dominating on Senior night). Wish him well in the future.
