Title: Most Underrated College Players this season
Post by: GoldenDieners32 on March 07, 2017, 10:17:31 PM
Personally i think Johnathan Williams from Gonzaga and Mike Daum from South Dakota State. Both played in their championship games today and dominated.

Steven Taylor Jr

I love Steve. But I'm not sure its possible to underrate the best player on the 9th best team in the MAC.

Steve's a big part of why I think Sandy can be an impact player at Green Bay. Sandy is a better all around player than Steve, and Taylor is the nation's leading defensive rebounder. He tallied double-digit rebounds in 25/30 games he played in and had 23 double-doubles. I think having a year to get healthy certainly helped Steve a ton, but there's just a different level of player from the Big East to the mid-majors.

This is why Steve is underrated. No appreciation of what he has done. This is the same  knee jerk approach that would have said Rowsey's achievement at UNC Asheville were at a lesser level. He came to Big East and when he got minutes put up the same numbers.

Except we saw Steve in the Big East and he didn't "put up numbers"

+1

At this level, Steve was just a guy. Even had he been 100% healthy and taken a redshirt to play this year, there's no way he's the leading rebounder in the country playing in the Big East. Decent role player, nice guy, even has a thick neck, but just not a Big East stud.

That was two years ago. He got healthy, bigger , improved and reached his potential. I give him a lot of credit.

He did. Which is great. He also is going against bad competition and plays on a team where he doesn't have to compete for points and rebounds because no one else on his team is good enough to take them away from him.  Some of his efficiency numbers still aren't stellar. I think he would be a very solid 15 minutes a  game contributor for us if he was on our team and we found a way to work him into our offensive game plan.

This is why he is a top rebounder
