Big East Champs!
Great crowd at the AL.
Pump the breaks
Please don't be premature..
Come on gals! Finish it
We got this!
5 pt lead, :20 to play. Doable.
6 pt lead, 4.3 sec to go.
Done!
Ballgame. Marquette Women are Big East champs and going to the NCAA Tournament (though that was a foregone conclusion).
Outstanding. And Kieger needs to be Coach of the Year in the BEast.
Way 2 go Lady Warriors!!!
Great to see. Seemed like a great crowd. Kudos to all Scoopers who attended.

Mens and Womens basketball is looking bright!!
Congrats, MU Women - Big East Champs!!!!!
Amani Wilborn - player of the tourney :" offense wins games, defense wins championships!"
They'll be fun to watch over the next couple years.
Absolutely fantastic performance tonight. Way to rock the Al everyone!

" offense wins games, defense wins championships!"
Doesn't bode well for the men's team.
Great game by the women though, and looked like a fun atmosphere.
Is there a possibility of hosting first and second round games? I doubt MU would go to a top four seed, but some of the top 16 cannot host (Stanford for example). If we were the 7 in Stanford's bracket, could the games come to the AL?

Bruno won but she deserved it beating him three times.
Congrats Ladies. Kieger has got that program going places.
Also, she looked like an awesome lady I'd love to play for. Flyaway hair, polka dot blazer, she gave a fired up fist pump/ primal scream combo at one point. She looks fun as hell.
What an exciting and emotional night. Amazing to see Terri Mitchell there to support. Such class. She shared a nice moment with Carolyn and they hugged for a long time afterwards. A lot of former teammates in attendance too. Saw Novak and Fitzgerald in support as well. Special night. Coach Kieger has done one hell of a job.

She coaches like she played. Absolute passion and grit. Toughest on the floor. Still that way. Can't imagine her physical therapist appreciates all the pressure on the boot :)
There is a fine line though. You can have unquestioned passion and grit and be someone I wouldn't want to play for, like Frank Martin. Or you can be respectable and fun like Kieger. I'd prefer the latter.

That is a possibility as Stanford will be a top 4 seed and cannot host. But as you say they are not going to get a top 4 seed. Stanford is the only likely top 4 seed that I know of that cannot host. I would guess that Marquette gets a 7 seed but maybe as good as a 6.
Awesome crowd tonight and great win - Good Marquette!!!

Absolutely. He should have handed her the award before his 0-3 team left town.
So I don't follow the women's game nearly as much, but why does it seem like most think we are getting a 7 seed? The women have a fantastic resume:
Record: 25-7
RPI: 27
SOS: 57
Top 50: 6-3
Top 100: 12-5
Best Wins: @Oregon State (4), @Depaul (17), Depaul* (17)
Worst Losses: @Providence (196), Santa Clara* (160), St. John's (70)
Last 10: 9-1
Like I said, I don't follow women's basketball as much. But a men's team with this resume would be looking at 6 seed at least, with hopes for a 4. I know there's a big gap between the top women's teams and the bottom, but I didn't think the top 20 were that much than the rest.
I guessing they'll rotate hosts so it will all shake out but being at home does help.
Not taking away from it. They are on a roll and I imagine a tough match in the women's tourney.
No real idea, but from the numbers you posted, and if they rely on RPI, an RPI of 27 put you MU at a 7 seed.
Kieger sure was a home run hire. For a program which had no momentum and waning interest when she took over to 25-7 and Big East champs in three years while establishing a very exciting culture.

Also don't follow it as much, but in the past it doesn't seem like there's the parity in the women's game that exists for the men. I suspect there are quite a few more 30 and 25 win teams in the women's bracket.
They just need 1 more win to match their all-time high (26-7 in 2006-2007).
Great win for the ladies! I may have to watch both tournaments this year.

Frolling was in the house too.
Greatest testament to how much the Women's team profile has been elevated:
Multiple threads related to them are being posted in Hanging in the Al instead of Superbar. And no one seems to be complaining.

On International Women's Day no less!
Great game and a team with great heart.
Congrats to a fine performance.
Congrats to the Warriors! Watched the game and it was great! The future looks bright!
Here is that half court shot for those of you who missed it. ::)

It was so awesome, ESPN had no choice but to put aside their Big East hatred to show it.
Entertaining game to watch, they got some hoopers on that team (imagine if Sandy had the game and moxy his sister has)
Pretty sure Marquette should be ranked and not DePaul seeing as we beat them 3-times....I think the Women's NCAA rankings are kind of like All-Star game voting...completely reputation based and not based on actual performance

DePaul deserves to be ranked in my opinion although at this point a case might be made for Marquette to be ranked also. DePaul has a better resume at this point than Marquette even with MU beating them three times. DePaul has an RPI of 17 and SOS of 38 to MU's 27 and SOS of 57. A big difference to me is DePaul really doesn't have any bad losses - MU at 27 is the worst team they lost to. DePaul also went through conference with only the 2 losses and MU had 5 BE losses. MU has two pretty bad losses - Santa Clara with an RPI of 160 and Providence with an RPI of 196. MU did have a better record against top 25 teams at 6-0 to DePaul's one top 25 win (Syracuse).
I do agree with you about the women's rankings being based a lot on reputation rather than actual performance. But in this case I think there is a good reason for DePaul to be ranked. I think they do a new poll next week before the NCAA Tourney starts - I would expect there's a good chance Marquette will be ranked then.
