What surprises me the most, is Markus was NOT a unanimous all freshman selection but Ponds, Patton, Baldwin and Lovett were. Someone has an agenda...how is Markus NOT unanimous??

The only explanation I can dream up is minutes played.

Maybe wojo didn't vote for him #mindgames
Given that Sam averages more points and rebounds and shoots better than DiVincenzo overall, from 3 and on FTs, I'm also a little surprised DiVincenzo got the all-frosh nod over Sam.
A minor nit, though. I'm not one to get my undies in a bundle over this kind of stuff. When a team has as great a season as Nova has, it gets the spoils.

3 of those dudes are RS Freshman too. Not that it matters, but worth pointing out.
I'm pretty sure that is a coaches vote.
It is a coaches vote and the fact that dante made it and Sam did not should only come as a surprise to those that dont pay attention. Winning floats all ships. Winning teams get mvps and all the awards regardless of sport. We play to win. Dante was 5-6th man on the #1 team in American and actually played very well down the stretch as Nova injuries mounted, hit a game winner too.
Taking nothing away from Sam, he had a great year but the votes are always going to skew towards the player on the team at the top. Same exact reason Rodney Prior, who individually was possibly the best player in the BE was on neither the first or second team. His team stunk.
Lastly, my guess the reason marcus was not unanimous is because he had a number of real stinkers in the BE season. While assurdely chris mack voted for him he also was very mercurial and im guessing a coach or two that coached against him during his down games may not have voted for him. I dont belive most coaches simply look at the averages rather thay ask themselves ,"how did he do in the two games against us"
Alng the same lines sam had some good games but others he was non existant during the middle of the BE season.
These individual awards are truly meaningless, the award n $.50 will get u a cup of coffee
Nobody on the first or second team and we're 4th?
I'll take it.

Also an indication of how deep our team is.
Markus should have been second team ahead of Cartwright.

PPG is always the first metric for these things. Markus was never gonna make it, just based on early season usage.
I want to be offended...but eh, we're not a team of stars. Let's see next year.
No pun intended but it is criminal that Maurice Watson Jr was not named. I guess once the Big Ten took Suzy Favor Hamiltons name off the trophy it was a slippery slope.

It's really not at all. The awards are based primarily off conference play, and he only played six games. I know you're just trying to make Scoop Takes, but this would be a weak take even for them.

And I trust you're not equating Ms. Hamilton's admittedly checkered history with the alleged serious felony that Mr. Watson is accused of committing. Different thread, I know.
