Loved the seniors energy, defensive presence, and offensive game.
Really happy for the guy
Great game JJ.
1. JjJ. Way to come to play.
2. Katin. He's definitely been a plus for this team. Lockett-like.
3. AR. Kid's got stones.
Go Warriors! Let's beat up on the Bluejays and then dance with a good seed!!
1. JJJ
2a. KR
2b. Howard
Rowsey. He made the shots and free throws at the end. And, we know this squad has had trouble closing games.
1. JJJ played a complete game. Worked hard . Played smart. Earned it.
2. KR great stroke.
3. AR solid did his thing.
JJJ 19 points, 4 steals, 4 assists, 2 rebounds. Big shots and steals at huge times in game.
KR 17 points, 7-8 from field
Hauser 12 points, 6 rebounds
Rowsey 20 points 9-9 free throws
JJJ hell of a game.
JJJ
Rowsey
jjj
Reinhardt
KR
I'll need to see the box score on this one. Several good candidates. I'm good with JJJ, but also liked KR, SH and AR.
JJJ or Reinhardt. Once the defense shifted in the second half we started to struggle. Then Reinhardt broke it down in the half-court while Johnson got us points in transition.
Tough one. JJJ but Rowsey too. And others.
1. Rowsey - 20, 5 dimes
2. JJJ - 19, 4 steals
3. Katin
I'm saying Rowsey but JJJ is certainly worthy.
Rowsey
2. Katin
3 jjj
4 hauser
10. Marotta
11. Fischer
Many times someone stepped up when X changed their D .lots of kudos but Rowsey was the calming factor down the stretch and held us together at the end
JJJ was terrific except for a few crazy drives
KR. Was a key component to this win
Felt bad at how many layups Duane missed

Rowsey was also huge in the first half, homer n mac gave it to rowsey too
I was leaning towards JJJ because of a all around great game, but his deciding to dribble out a few extra seconds instead of try to score with 40 seconds left was the icing on the cake.
Made the smart play. JJJ gets the SOTG.
Honorable mention, Rowsey and Reinhardt who were both phenomenal.
I few like the last few games we've had really good games from a few players - and tonight was no different.
1. JJJ - Brought the intensity from the get-go. Best game he's played since Georgetown to start conference play.
2. Rowsey - Pretty close with Katin, but Rowsey made a huge rebound late to complete the 80 second possession and drain some clock. And added in a nice steal from point blank range.
3. Reinhardt - Had the stroke working all game. Didn't force any bad shots. Even had a breakaway dunk.
Howard is the MVP of this season, but this team is elite when we get those type of contributions from JJJ and Reinhardt.
Man, this team is fun to watch.
Rowsey - closed it out for a team that hasn't been able to close it out. Great shooting from the floor and the line. Huge steal under X's basket toward the end, and huge board and timeout at the end.
Honorable mention for JJJ and Katin.
Rowsey / JJJ

Man, this team is fun to watch.
Fun, but extremely nerve-wracking.
I couldn't relax tonight until the shot clock was turned off.
I saw NO hero ball, therefore a team SOG is my vote.
I'll say JJJ.
Been down in him this year, but this was a huge game.
KR too. Those boys play like that in he tourney, and we just may win a few games.
JJJ - Credited with 4 steals, yet forced two others, one with deflection off Blueitts foot out of bounds, that goes as a turnover, not steal. Xaiver narrowed lead early in 2nd half while JJJ was on bench.
Rowsey - Gamer. Crafty. Clutch free throw shooting and a couple of momentum breaking threes.
Reinhardt - Great shooting, solid with ball against press, a couple of nice assists/plays off the dribble.
Can't go wrong with any of the above.
Real tough call between JJJ and Rowsey. Would be happy with either one. I personally give it to Rowsey. Played very under control, only 1 TO. 20 points. 5 dimes. That steal was gorgeous. Sealed the game by grabbing the offensive board and calling time out. Also, it doesn't show on the score board but he was trash talking every X player out there. Got in their heads I think. But JJJ is every bit deserving as well.
Honorable mentions for Katin, Howard, and SammySplash.
See game thread.
Ahem
Rowsey: 162 Orating, 30 minutes, 20 points, 5 assists, one turnover, decent D.
As I watched it, my feeling was Rowsey.
But JJJ and Katin had very nice games.
Tempted to say JJJ for the way he has overcome the de-motivator's mind games.
JJ gets my vote. Solid on both ends, and rebounded nicely from his recent spotty performances.
JJJ all the way - one of his best all around games with very few mistakes....
So many strong performances but my rankings are:
Rowsey
JJJ
Katin
Whichever way Rocky decides to go is fine with me.
Heck, Give to Marotta for his bench energy and impressive celebrations on the big 3's then we'd only have Franklin left to round out the active roster for SOtG.
Triple Jay! Way to bring it. Need that effort down the stretch!
Rowsey, keep doin you kid! Keep doin you!
1. Rowsey
2. JJJ
3. KR
AR
Rowsey. Loved the no thought 30 footer. Loved the pump fake / get fouled / make 3 free throws. Really enjoyed how he didn't waste any shots even though he knew he had the hot hand.

I am quite sure he leads the nation in drawing 3-shot fouls. Frankly, he might already have set the NCAA single-season record in that department. He did travel once today when he thought he could do it but failed ... and yet later he was able to do it. Amazing!
JJJ played a very nice game and gets my nod. KR was clutch as well.
I'm not going to argue against JjJ, Rowsey, or KR. All 3 played well and are worthy.
JJJ
KPom picks Andrew.
JJJ and Rowsey were awesome. Nod to JJJ because he was benched in the first match up.

That shot in the first half.....The 35 to 40 footer where his foot was almost on the central court "X" drew "Oohs" from the crowd and then silence......
It was a statement shot.....and just deflated "X"
Drive them off the 3 point line......Shoot ....Drive them off the center court line......LOL!
Already voted. Just reinforcing my case.
- shot from practically the 'X'
- the now famous 3 point foul
- critical 3 pointer late that bounced off the rim, what, 6 times. Who can do that?
- very important 'know and play the defense' steal down the stretch
- rebound during the backbreaking 80 second possession
- court awareness to call a critical 'reset' timeout at that moment in the land of the giants
Rowsey played a great college basketball game. He committed one mistake, a turnover.

JJJ played great. Excellent win.
Rowsey
Honestly, I forgot about Rowsey's shot from the X. That almost makes me want to change my vote to JJJ. That was a DUMB DUMB shot.....so glad he made it.
These 5 guys all had great stat lines. We've given SOTG for less than what any of these guys did last night. But my vote is:
1. Rowsey
2. JJJ
3. Reinhardt
4. Howard
5. Hauser
Together those 5 had 73 points, shot 64% from the floor, 57% from 3, 83% from the line, had 16 assists, 14 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 turnovers.
Divide those numbers by 5 and that is a great night from somebody. And we had 5 of those somebodies last night.
JJJ
Jjj, Rowsey, and Reinhardt all played SOTG worthy. I'm fine with any of them winning.
3 SOTG worthy performances; no wonder we won!
Maybe the toughest call of the season since not just two but THREE worthy candidates. All played great but the one with the fewest warts was KR. Certainly no issue with any of the three.

JJJ
ROWSEY
KR
Any of those 3

JJJ did a lot of things not in the stats. He had a number of deflections etc, a lot of very good passes where guys missed the shot etc was playing the role the coach wanted him to and the team did very well when he was in the line up. The biggest tip off was at the end of the game when he had a wide open lane to the goal and he kept dribbling to run clock out per the plan. He was studworthy.
Did everyone see how deep AR pulled up from in the first half?!?! that was crazy
I think last night was JJ's most complete game of the season. And beyond that, his attitude and willingness to play as a teammate were just great. It would be great to see this again on Saturday for Senior Day.
As a side note, I had assumed that his game last night might have had something to do with his benching against X a couple of weeks ago. Per Matt's article in the MJS, JJ didn't even know he was going to be benched for that game. Given that I already questioned Wojo's relationship with JJ, this only seems to confirm that there's bad blood. I think that's a bad move by any coach to bench a kid with no warning, but hopefully these two have moved past that moment.

I agree about last night being Jjj's most complete game this year.
This site trashes JJJ when he doesn't have 25pts 5 assists and 3 steals.
We had abnormal JJJ standards coming into the season after the end of last year.
Hook him up with the coveted SOTG
JjJ, AR and KR are all worthy by their contributions last night.
Loved how KR was able to abuse X on the high screen on multiple possessions (I think 3-4 possessions in a row). AR was in a zone, the weakside help and steal under the basket and the rebound/timeout were just great plays.
But JjJ played a terrific game. He made a few mistakes, but when he drove the basket, if he didn't have a shot, he kept his dribble. He didn't go airborne only to get blocked or made a terrible pass-into-a-turnover.
JJJ should have gotten SOTG. More complete game form start to finish than Rowsey, more of an impact over 40 minutes. Rowsey had a good second half. JJJ good the whole game.
Rocky hates the popular vote, or something like that.

This game shows how good MU can be when both JJJ and Katlin play well within the system.

Good comment, and thanks for the link.
Here's JJJ in the article:
"I wouldn't say I had to do something big, but I just knew we had to leave here with a W," Johnson said, mentioning that at the time he didn't know he was going to sit for Marquette's home game against Xavier. "It hurt me when I didn't get to play so I just had to bounce back with this one. ...
"Actually, before the game (a coach) said if we win this game we're in the tournament, so I locked all the way in. I was in my own zone today. That's all it was."Given JJJ's response on the court since the benching, especially last night, I'd say Wojo's tactic worked quite well.
The most difficult part of coaching is not the X's and O's. It is managing egos. It is know that each player responds differently to situations. It is putting each player in the best position to succeed, not just on one possession or for one game but for the entirety of a season. It is knowing which buttons to push for each player.
I believe Wojo knew exactly what he was doing with the way he handled the JJJ situation, and I applaud him for pushing the right buttons.
Would JJJ have played the way he did last night had Wojo not benched him in the first game? We'll never know. What we do know is that JJJ
did play that way last night after having been benched for the first game.

Maybe he was late for the meeting where Wojo announced he wouldn't be playing.
In all seriousness, if there is "bad blood" between Wojo and JJJ it doesn't matter. If JJJ plays like he did yesterday for the rest of whatever season is left, Marquette, Wojo and JJJ will be just fine.
