Stated this in the Gameday Chat. Would make a lot of sense for both sides.
Marshall to Washington.
Bazz to Louisville in a few years.
Sean Miller to UNC in a few years.
Archie Miller to Zona in a few years.

I would put my life savings on Archie leaving Ohio at some point in his career.
Romar has gone 6 years straight without an NCAA Tournament appearance. He gowne.

Marshall to Washington? That seems like an odd fit.
I think Buzz will need to starting winning a lot more to get the Louisville job.
I do think Miller eventually heads back east, I think he would listen to IU too.
There's been buzz about Archie waiting for Matta to step down.

Marshall's wife is from Washington (state) and (evidently) they have talked about how great it would be to live in the PNW.

That would be a poor decision. They just fired a guy who went to 2 S16s and 4 NCAA Tournaments in 6 years. NC State had gone to 5 NCAA Tournaments in the previous 20 years before Gottfried. You'd be going to a school that thinks they should be competing with UNC and Duke when in reality they're nowhere near it. He should stay where he is comfortable and has no expectations until a truly good job opens up.

Maybe. The fact he and his wife both went to NC State carries some weight here. And if you've living in Dayton, Ohio, a truly good job is any job not in Dayton.

Also of note, NC State's AD is stepping down in 2019. I just don't think it's a very desirable job.

That may make it more desirable. I think Yow is tough to work for. Granted, an AD coming in to work with a coach they didn't hire can be risky as we learned the hard way.

This is why no one should be allowed to announce their retirement 2+ years in advance.

The only thing worse than having MU's head coach rumored to be sought after.... is MU having a coach who isn't sought after.

Let's hope he's just off his meds and these aren't his real opinions.
If Crean is creaned, he should sit out a year or two. There is an offset provision in his contract; even working media for a regional outfit is allowed.. I'd recommend to him that he spends a year or two doing light media work, then go back into coaching... otherwise, he's gonna be "coaching for free"

Guys, we cant get positive press in the Dayton Daily News, might as well close up shop.
You really think the JS, which didn't even give Marquette extended space for knocking off Nova, is going to do a fluff piece on Kostas? He would be a blurb in an article about his brother.
I wouldn't mine the hookup for what you're smoking though.

Wow. That's pretty horrible. 6 straight years with no NCAA and 2 wins in a conference that, after the top 3 teams, is pretty horrible...with the clear cut top pick in the NBA Draft. That's brutal. And that's what happens when you let keeping one player around (a player that is worse than the player you are winning 2 conference games with on your team) run who is running your program.
Romar would be smart to go to Mizzou.

He is coaching at his alma mater, and they seem to be willing to keep him despite his weak performance. Why on earth should he leave to go to a school that just fired an underperforming coach after only 3 seasons?

Because it's where you grew up and the only reason you still have a job where you're currently working is because you're bringing in a kid who is going to be gone in a year, which means you, too, will be gone in a year, and so will your home state job.

Actually, no. Romar's seat isn't even warm. Alums do want a winner, but they are content settling for lottery picks that get the school name into the NBA.

When you have to announce you are retaining a coach, that coach's seat is beyond warm...

Turns out him and Crean are probably in the same boat. One more year due to a big buyout (another dumb reason to keep a coach). And in Romar's case, the top rated recruit so Washington fans can reval in hearing yet another lottery pick being discussed about how terrible of a year his Washington team had on draft night.

If UDub is miserable again next season, he's done. This year was tough as Murray and Criss weren't thought to be one-and-dones, so there wasn't anything behind them in the pipeline. The '17 class has Porter, who everyone knows will be gone after one year, but could be a good cornerstone group with 3 other top-100 guys.
He gets a bunch of bonus points for having the most tourney success in modern school history (it's never been a top-level program) and running a clean enough operation. Football being good again probably helps too.

Had dinner tonight with an investor who is big into U Dub athletics. When asked he said Romar has another 3 years at least. And this guy thinks Romar is an idiot. They evidently tied up a lot of money in him with a 10 year deal and he has 4 left after this year.
Hoping Crean gets one of the LSU, Missouri or NC State jobs . I always like to see our former coaches do well.

That would make sense. I would assume Cuonzo will also bring Tracy Webster with him. Tracy followed Cuonzo from Tennessee to Cal. My dad was friends with him, great guy.

I didn't realize Porter was from Columbia, MO and Jr went to HS in Columbia until his dad took the job at U Dub. That makes this all even more sensical.

To be fair, as of late February, there was no issue with Romar and UW.
Once the Missouri job opened it allowed Martin to sell his imminent hiring of Porter, Sr. as an assistant. He gets the offer, Porter is out from UW, and the UW admin was now free to terminate Romar. This was a 72 hour turnaround.
