I love that they released this list. More transparency is better.

From the link above
We had terrific conversations about these 16 teams, plus others such as Cincinnati, Creighton, Purdue and Wisconsin, who were on the verge of being a first quadrant team. This was a productive and useful exercise, but now the committee can get back to the work we started November 11 and continue evaluating all possible tournament teams."
I heard them talk about this list today and they noted that Wisconsin is 21-0 against non top 25 teams and 0-3 against top 25 teams.
Wisconsin SOS is 105. (MU is 69). So the committee is saying it matters if you actually beat someone. As impressive as Wisconsin's 21-3 sounds, they have not beaten anyone. At least we have @Creighton and Nova on our resume.
Question - will this seed list affect voting on the AP and Coaches polls? Will Wisconsin tumble down these lists because they did not make the seeding list?
It's less about transparency and more about building interest earlier.
When was the last time the Big10 didn't have a top 16 team? Or rather a 1-4 seed?
Wisconsin definitely should have been in. Realize the sos is low but eye test is leading a power 5 conf that is down but still should be in the top 16.
Badgers have no marquee wins. Their best win is Minnesota. Needing OT to beat Rutgers and Nebraska doesn't help. They'd probably have about 5 losses if they were in the ACC. Bit of a victim of the B1G being highly mediocre this year but they failed in all 3 of their toughest tests: UNC, Creighton, and Purdue all beat them by double digits.
Of course, I'd love to have their problems over ours.

Why? They have beat no one. 21 games against teams outside the top-25, they are 21-0. 3 games against top-25 teams, they are 0-3. They have played a crap schedule in a crap league.
More sad, attrition will probably mean they keep winning. Their only remaining top-25 opponent is a home tilt with a Maryland team whose resume is even less impressive than UW. They could get to a 4-seed and not have beaten anyone of significance all season long.
I'm not saying they couldn't be good, but they sure as hell haven't done anything to convince anyone they actually are good. Committee got that right.
Don't know how to look this up ... but has a Power 5 +BE conference winner ever NOT beaten a ranked team?
As noted before, Wisconsin is 0 - 3 against ranked opponents this year (yes, they have only played three so far, and two of then were out of conference games, losses to UNC and Creighton).
Wisconsin is leading the B1G with a 10 - 1 record (two games over Maryland at 9 - 3) and, for now, only has Maryland at #22 as their lone ranked opponent left on February 19.
That is how bad the B1G is this year, you can win it without beating a ranked team!

C'mon, Brew. Wisky beat us. That makes them good.

;D
So did St. John's, I'm not penciling them into a 4-seed either.
This is all well and good, but I want to know what teams will be in the Vegas 16.
