And, we'll just have to wait...That's the vibe I get watching this team (...whether Supremes or Phil Collins is up to you...).
With the exception of Fisher, the most talented players on this team are very young. They panic. They pout. They shrink from a fight. That will change. But, we'll have to wait.
Wilson and Johnson – the slashing "interchangeables" held over from Buzz's sinking ship – play hard and mean well. Give them credit for sticking around. But, they're lost in Wojo's system. They just don't have the skill set to flourish. We have to wait until they move on and Wojo-style kids arrive.
A couple years of recruting isn't enough to fill the holes left by transitioning from Buzz basektball to Wojo basketball. We're too small, too thin on the bench and too inexperienced. I think it takes at least four, maybe five years until all of the holes from the rotted spiritual remains of MU hoops under Buzz and return to elite status.
So, we wait.

Hopefully Wojo can have a strong 2018 recruiting class
lol this argument is so weak. We have to wait for Wojo's guys to get here. Well it's year THREE!! Why doesn't this team have a PF who can bang and rebound? Why all the holes on the roster? He has had sufficient amount of time to put together a much better team than what we're used to watching. His teams are consistently sloppy, careless, weak/soft, etc. Not to mention that he's a terrible in-game coach. Attendance, season tix, interest among students and other fans is waning. Wojo's mojo is basically non-existent at this point. I am sure sick of him and I would imagine others are as well.
Imagine if MU could have just won some of the crucial games this season... Pitt, Seton Hall, heck Butler twice! wojo simply cannot get it done. He can't take that extra step. You beat Nova and instead of using that momentum to turn the corner as a program you follow that up with a crap game and 1 point home loss to PC then an ass whooping to St. John'.s PATHETIC
FIRE WOJO!

Lol.
Great, moron troll posts coming out.
Thanks, Al. And while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, surely you can appreciate the irony of taking the screen name of a guy who basically ran a franchise into the ground for his last 20 years with asinine player decisions and an inability to develop a good coach while simultaneously criticizing a coach. Wojo isn't perfect. But I have said before and I will say again that I can see the progress and the roadmap he is developing.

I have seen it before but at what point to you need to demand a winning season that results in an NCAA tournament berth? How many years or passes is this man going to get? 3 years in college basketball is a lifetime. Next year it's do or die? Or does he continue to get the " he's building a program, let him get his players" pass yet again. The team was certainly capable of making a good run this season yet they continue to shoot themselves in the foot. His seat has to be getting warmer.
3 years is not a lifetime. It is a lifetime for instant gratification fans. Anybody paying attention going in could see that this is an unbalanced roster. And then two players left. This year's MU team has to shoot well to win. They didn't last night. Extrapolating from that to fire Wojo is the exact kind of thinking that ruined the raiders under your screen icon for a generation.

Year 5. If it doesn't happen then Wojo probably gets the boot. Of course I haven't given up on this season. 4-2 finish gets us in. Gotta win the one gimme (SJU at home) and 3 out 5 50-50ish games.

People have opinions. No one here is an expert at college basketball. To claim some form of enlightened superiority on the subject is ludicrous.
Here is a fact: this team is not nearly as competitive as we had been for a decade. The current team is average, at best.
Frankly, the product is bland and there is precious little evidence that significant improvement is in the offing.

I don't think this team is bland. Mildly infuriating? Sure. But they at least play an entertaining style.
Last year's "clear out for Hank" offense was brutal to watch.

Dont disagree with either poster, i think the wojo versus buzz label is immaterial. The problem plain and simple is Duane and Jjj are bad basketball players. They play like Freshman yet the are 4th yr players. They shoot when they should pass, they leave their feet with no clue, one feels defense is a hassle, they continuosly make passes that should never be made. Twice last night duane tried to feed the post from the top of the key. Wojo or Buzz guys they do not do the things that amount to consistantly winning basketball games aginst decent competion.
Now I owe everyone an apology.
A call for patience and deferred enthusiasm became an anger therapy advertisement for folks who forget we're talking about very tall, well-built, travelled, hard working CHILDREN. Look at any other 17-21-year-old. Do you see a fully functioning adult? Such kids require patience and teaching before thousands of fans kick them up the arse in their impatience and general misery.
These guys will win in the Duke model. But, another year away from Buzz's fever swamp is the price to pay.
MU basketball is at a major tipping point in the Wojo era. We could easily be a total 10 point difference from missing the NCAA or squeaking in and surprising a top seed..... a few 3pt% points either way.
The positive is that we are competing... although losing. The team attitude appears to be upbeat. The negative is that Hanif (the future) appears lost. A strong defensive team is years away. And I'm wondering how much of JJJ, Duane and Fischer's lack of development over the past few years is coach dependent.
Miss the tourney and this fan's frustration turns to apathy. I feel for the freshmen class from 2013. Fire Wojo and we start all over again. What appears to be a nice couple of upcoming recruiting classes, moves to zero.
Have to go with Wojo. Wish I could be as excited about the rebuilding as I was with O'Neill, Crean and even Buzz. 2017 is critical. I'm hoping this is just a blip and we're not back to the MU Bball wasteland around the 80-90's.

Change has occurred and it has occurred in a positive direction. It may not be quick enough for you but that doesn't mean it hasn't.

Lots of adjectives can be used to describe this team.
Bland was not a very good choice, Crash.
I find this team to be quite entertaining. I was highly entertained when we capped a 4-1 run with wins over Creighton and Nova. But even the Providence game ... they went down, but they were entertaining. To me, anyway.
Wisconsin is bland.
And yes, I'd rather be bland and go to Final Fours than entertaining and not make the Dance at all.

Unfortunately I agree.
You would think better D could be learned in a season but apparently. Thought we could drive and kick-out better but apparently not. Thought we could fight for rebounds and be more aggressive but apparently. Thought early in the season, at best, we could go 9-9 but then we beat CU and VU. It looked like we turned a corner but now apparently not.
There have been some high points but overall a very painful team to watch. Generally a one dimensional team (i.e. can usually shoot the three). After that zippo.

For a post you went back to edit, your neglect of certain nots is perplexing.
