Friggen track meet. Just whipping the ball around and hoping ilsomeone catches it.

This is going to be a combined 40 turnover game.

Thus team. Refs to settle down.  Dug a nice whole the last minute of the half.  Need to control all and tempo.  And play SOME defense.

Gotta win this one boys. Make the right adjustments at half time - then execute them.

Title: Re: St. John's game thread
Post by: nyg on February 01, 2017, 06:57:39 PM
JJJ 1 for 6
KR 0 for 3
Howard with 4 turnovers
Cheatham with no shots taken, no bounds, no assists, 3 turnovers.

Both teams have 9 turnovers, yet SJU up 8 on at least 5 of those turnovers in backcourt resulting in layups.  That is difference in the game.

Pretty pitiful performance so far, thats two games in a row.  Maybe turn around in second half.  Should be interesting to see how Wojo handles Cheatham's playing time. Young guy has struggled big time.

St. Johns is shooting 58% from the floor. Sadly, having a team shoot well over 50% in a half happens far too often. Thankfully, it's still within grasp.

Thing with cheatam is he's the only one who can guard ponds.

So basically we have to play 4 on 5 and have cheatam not dribble it against ponds(that's how he scores). Simply so we can guard the guy.

I like when I look forward to watching an MU game all day and get rewarded with this.

I know the feeling..  Sucks

I hope Froling and Theojohn are bangers. If not another dismal rebounding season next year.

Team has quit. Don't know if they're tired of Wojo or if they're just tired. Shouldn't be the latter; we use no energy at all on defense. Disgraceful.

How the hell do we beat back to back 7 and 2, and then lose to slugs like Prov. and st. Johns? This is turd city.

Six SJ blocks, so much for them being labeled small

JJJ benched?  Howard very bad night, 6 turnovers

Turnovers just brutal, can't even get inbounds.

One thing to lose, but blown out but this team, oh boy.

The officials have let them play tonight. That's bad for us, we are not a physical team. St. John's is tougher at every position.

St johns flying around
Mu standing around
When u receive a post pass u are supposed to hop or pop to the ball not stand n wait or the defender might flash in and steal it n run down and dunk it.
Most aggressive toughest team wins.

That is the major question.  I honestly thought it was Luke being in foul trouble and has to sit, but now no clue.  Many will blame on coaching, but something is very wrong.

How many times does Wojo have to tell them not to quit or that the game will be won on the defensive end? If they can'y execute I don't care how good a coach you are its just not going to happen. HC just is not physically able to out jump his competition.

HC...face palm, Jesus dude, looked like he was maybe getting a little confidence and in the 3 possessions he drops a rebound, misses two free throws, and trips over his own feet. That's 6 points

Dumbf**k,

We all understand what you wrote.  Jj has played minimum minutes in the second half, so for you to ask a question during the second half when he's been riding the pine, makes no logical sense.  Then again, either do you.

You're a clown to this board, and everyone knows it.

This is what an athletic team looks like.  They contest everything, out jump us on rebounds and simply faster and quicker.  MU can shoot but they simply aren't very athletic.  Athletic teams can have hot shooting nights and shooting teams can have cold nights but shear athletics never goes away (unless they simply don't play hard.  Right now MU looks like a Mountain West team playing a Big East team.  I'm not sure we can survive in this league without more athletic players.  Got to have athletes who can also shoot.

I don't disagree, but when were athletic (and playing into the tournament's 2nd weekend regularly) people here screamed for shooters and traditionals. Now we're loaded with both, and folks are still unhappy.
