Title: Villanova v Virginia
Post by: shoothoops on January 29, 2017, 01:43:03 PM
Tough game for Nova. Continuing to struggle shooting the 3, (4-13 two thirds through game) as well as score in the lane, 6 lane points at half.  Been losing all game anywhere from 8-12 pts.  Trying to grind it out. Physical game vs UVA and the pack defense. UVA a good team. Go Nova! .....now down to 4 on back to back threes.

Donte DiVincenzo 0.1 tip in off of a Josh Hart drive and miss for the win for Villanova. It was DiVincenzo's only points of the game. Capacity crowd, largest crowd ever at Nova.

I know this is complicated but Buzz had Shayok (and Hill) signed to MU.  Shayok is getting consideration for NPOY.

What a set of Juniors MU would have had!

Uhh, what? Shayok is getting consideration for NPOY from...who?

Whoever it is, if they do that for a living, they need a new living.

Who? The kid doesn't even play 20 minutes a game. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, would love to have him at MU. But anyone considering him for NPOY doesn't know what they are talking about.

Shayok's minutes are deceiving as Tony Bennett has a very deep bench.

Yes, but not so deceiving that a NPOY of the candidate would be playing less than half the game.

Obviously that NPOY talk is silly.  But he is a very solid player who would get a lot more minutes in most programs.

Malcolm Brogdon, a legitimate NPOY candidate last season, averaged 18 ppg over 34 mpg for a similarly deep Virginia team.

Shayok is a good player. Would love to have him at MU. But he's averaging 10 ppg (third on the team) over 20 mpg. Please.

Absolutely could make another Final Four run.

The loss to us and near-loss to DePaul signal that they can be beaten, however, especially if they have an off night.

NPOY?  All this talk about Shayok being on top, rocking like a cop, etc. is a bunch of hooey.
