I wonder how different the top 16 will be from the AP and coaches poll.
Like the college football sham of naming the final 4 playoff teams every week for weeks in advance, I find this annoying. The intention is to give the Skip Baylesses of the world something more to yammer pointlessly about

My thoughts exactly. This serves no purpose other than to give fans a reason to complain.

Good. We need causal fan talking college hoops!
Are they really not planning to issue updates to this list on a weekly basis leading up to selection sunday? Crazy
Not worried 'bout dis for da current ceeson, hey?
Sheesh. Ex better hope we are in the field on feb 11th or we are screwed eh? ;)
Who cares. The last teams in are always way more interesting than the top of the bracket. Those top 16 seeds are all guaranteed to make the Dance. No suspense at all.

Exactly, this has become a 3 week sport and getting back into the national conversation is smart.
I also like seeing X play Cinci on Thursday and then Nova play UVA on Saturday. It would be smart to stack games on Pro Bowl Weekend to really get conversation going on games. More big out of conference games + big rivalry conference games. Additionally, conferences need to work with ESPN on flexibility with College Gameday + Primetime Saturday games. Football is always in flux, no reason there can't be movement with hoops times (and yes I understand some college teams share with NBA teams but not all).
