All around good game. Well done to the bench too.
Luke
KR
I won't argue against either.
KR
Luke #2
Luke and KR
Before the game I was afraid Patton would go off. I was unbelievably wrong. Fish had a great game.
Fisher
KR would have been SOTG any other night, but tonight its the Fish.
When you say fischer you mean katin right.
Gotta go with Reinhardt. Luke had a great game, but Reinhardt took over when we took the lead for good.
Luke - I felt like I just rewatched the wizard of oz
Can't argue with either, think I'd lean a bit to Luke as his D was very good at times and we needed it, got Patton in foul-trouble and that was huge
Reinhardt.
Can't just name the SOTG after a player. Makes people think he should win. Katin should be winner for sure.
Luke was awesome. Definitely SOTG.
Great game by all!
Its gotta be Luke for keeping Patton in check and off the floor with fouls. Feel bad for Katin he just cant seem to get one.
Luke played great, but to go on a personal 10-0 run, on the road against a top-10 team, to put your team up for good. Gotta be KR.

+10
Luke.
I can understand going with either Luke or KR. They both had their best games of the season. I think KR gets a slight edge just because he was unstoppable for like 20 minutes.
1.Luke
2.Katin
Luke. 6 blocks that otherwise would've been 10 points with our typical interior D. And then a great offensive game on top of it.
I'm going with Butler University.
Something happened this week that lit a fire under them. Butler was a wake-up call!
This game shows they can play with about anyone if they put their minds to it.
Luuuuuuuuke...if only because he silenced his message board critics (for now).
Finkle is Reinhardt...Reinhardt is Finkle! also deserving.
Wait, how does KR not have a SOTG yet? I said it should be Luke, but upon review of this fact, it should go to KR.

Fisher
You and me both. Glad he was on the bench for most of the game and I ended up being wrong.
Luke is the obvious choice. Hopefully it carries over to Tuesday.
Agree with Luke for SOTG. Kaitin for 1st runner up.
Luke. Flawless all around game, his best in a MU uni
Sorry Katin, but this was Luke all the way. Great for 40 minutes. And most importantly made Patton his biotch.
I say KR he took over pg at one point in game that was needed. Or let it go to seniots, hey?
KR
2. Luke
Katin, he changed the entire game with his run and was steady throughout
Luke gets the edge with 8 boards and 6 blocks.

Late in the game he was making a huge difference against the press (which he always does).
Lean Fischer. Nice to have more than one excellent option. :)
Nice to see Luke back with the living, he had a great game. But it was Katin that came in and busted it open. He was the game-changer, and had seven dishes besides. No hatin' on Katin!
Luke played his best game of the year.
Luke was a MAN but KR was THE MAN all over the floor. Scoring, D and moving the ball.
1. Wojo's sweat stained shirt.
2. Fisch. Clearly Wojo got on his ass BIG TIME this week.
3. KR. Great game Senior.
Fish 1
Sweet arm sleeve tat 1.1
Luke. KPom agrees. Luke stayed home, especially in the 1st half, and the blocks go up, and this kept Patton preoccupied and in foul trouble.
So delighted we are arguing about this! :D
Luke.

Luke showed up and played a dominating type of game. He changed the complexion of things with his shot blocking and he was a big threat offensively. He deserves the Stud of the Game for his all around greatness today. We could not have won without him.
KR gets honorable mention for being the best of the non Luke players today.
Absolutely Luke. Great all around game. What, 6 blocks. What a rim defender.
I'm going with Luke, mostly because he stepped up to silence the critics. Katin sure was fun to watch though during his hot streak.
Luke in a close vote.
Outside of a few missed fts had a nearly flawless game.
To me, it has never been closer for SOTG. KR and Luke really both deserve it. Hard to choose.
No way on luke.. He had a good game but everyone that says luke is just remebering his last few games. He played well but his defense was still shaky for stretches.
Reinhardt was really good and is contributing in many ways including his defense.
Rinehardt is the cleat sotg, thise voting for luke just feel sorry for him
Over the last 6-7 games kr n mh have been our two best players

Luke could have a 20-20 game and you'd vote for a walk-on over him.
Luke ... so obviously de-motivated into having a big game.
KR a close second because, as many Scoopers so aptly noted a month ago, he sucks and will never be any good.
Reinhardt, he was absolutely awesome. A Warrior!

Luke should really get SOTG now just to spite that comment.

No, just no. I've been as hard on Luke as anyone around here, and I watched this game and thought, damn, Luke is dominating this game. He dominated a guy that may be a lottery pick.
He put up 18 pts, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. That's just insane.
I joked that Rheinhardt should get SOTG just because he hasn't gotten one yet, and Rheinhardt had one of the finest games of an MU player in the last 3 years. But, Luke still was head and shoulders the best player on the floor.
That doesn't take anything away from KR's performance, just speaks to how great of a game Luke had.
Hands down, it's Luke. All those nice open looks Reinhardt got were courtesy of Creighton having to respect Fischer early. Reinhardt was terrific too, he knocked them down, but Luke was great. And his defense was fantastic too, saved a lot of points with his blocks. And the block shots started early too, and kept coming.

Mo Watson.
Now that is just mean....but I still laughed at it.
Katin was great, but Fisch did everything well. Came out confident on offense, blocked some shots, grabbed some boards. Very impressive game.
Luke SOTG - no contest. What he did today was special. He has not played well in the BE and that hurts our team. Today he played with confidence and a level of intensity I haven't seen. katlin had a very good game as well but we have other guys in his position that can as well. Best win in some time!
KR

It's not about "that can", it's about "who did" and KR was the stud today. Don't get me wrong, Luke played great. Hit the shots we were expecting all year and blocked some shots.
Katin
Are people just looking to keep SOG tally tight at the top? Feel bad Reinhardt hasn't won yet?
Fischer did his work in 7 less minutes than Reinhardt. He was a beast on both ends. Plus, Reinhardt's contributions were largely in the first half. I think he scored all but three of his points in the first half. Plus, Fischer's work down low early, opened things up for guys like Reinhardt.
Reinhardt played excellent, but I don't see how SOG doesn't go to Fischer today.
Katin basically played point guard half the time. 7 assists n led us in scoring. His defense is under appreciated n pkayed tge 4 most of the day. Good game for luke but kaitin was much more valuable. Again nothing against luke but i think voters are giving luke just a little more credit than he deserves because of it being a bounce back game fir him.
Would love to give it to Katin, he's been playing his heart out. But this one is a no brainer for Luke.
18 points, 8 boards, 6 blocks, 8/9 from the floor.
More importantly, he took Patton out of the game. Wojo said post game that they scouted Patton and knew he bit easily on shot fakes. Luke intentionally pump faked every time he went against Patton. Got him up in the air and got easy fouls against him. Won us the game. We don't win if Patton plays his normal 25 minutes.

Good observation about Fischer opening up things for Reinhardt in the first half, but look at the second half. Every time Reinhardt touched the ball in the second half a Creighton big came out to double team him, hence opening it up for Fischer. Teams make adjustments.
My vote is for Harry Froling. Is that allowed? After a few practices going against Froling, Luke bounces back with arguably his best game at Marquette.
Since it can't really beat Froling, it has to be a CO-SOTG. In watching the game AND looking at the stats it has to be both. The blocks for Luke and the assists for Reinhart on top of their scoring means they both absolutely deserve it.
Quote from: Mr. Sand-Knit on January 21, 2017, 11:00:25 PM
Again nothing against luke
There is this thing called the internet. On it, things that you write stay around pretty much forever. It turns out people can go back and look at things that you might have said previously on this internet thing. And pretending that 90% of what you've previously said doesn't exist? Well...
Luke. Was the presence in the paint we been missing
Fischer in a photo finish over Reinhardt. Picking one over the other is splitting hairs. They both had great statistical games, but Luke getting his opposite number in foul trouble was a key to the game that doesn't show up in the stats so he gets the slight edge.
Had to go with Luke. His stats are studly enough to get it 18 pts, 8 reb, 6 blk!, 3 ast!, 1 stl. But as mentioned, the stat that doesn't show up is limiting Patton to only 19 min. That was a huge part of the game.
If it weren't for Luke's work against Patton, this would have been an easy call for KR. Maybe next time Katin...
I'd say Katin being the key in beating both the press and the 1-3-1 was just as important as that, but Luke is a totally fair choice. He was excellent yesterday, and most notable that he did so against the on-paper best center in the league.
As Long as we have a SOTG selection after the Game I'm Happy.
And somewhere in the world, Sand-Knit is off kicking puppies.
It's gotta be Luke.
That was a dream game out of him.

Fish and Renhardt. Both were keys to the game. Double win!
Just rewatched the game (hard to follow closely when you are watching in a bar like I was yesterday ) and I have to agree that Luke deserves this. He excelled at everything he was supposed to do: scoring, rebounding, blocking shots, and shutting down Patton.
Luke--the open jumper sealed it.

Interestingly enuff MUBB twitter named Katin as the top performance of the game. Hmm wonder from where they get their imput.
Good game from luke, borderline astonishing how much he can accomplish when he moves and makes it happen.

Don't forget 8 of 9 shooting (for an outrageously efficient eFG% of 88.9%), 3 assists (2nd most on the team) and a steal for good measure.
That might have been the best game of Luke's career. Made a huge impact on both ends of the court. Katin had a great game. But Luke was truly the stud.
