Seriously. Who is making the decisions on these start times?
I get the weather got a bit shady around start time last night, but 6pm starts are just so brutal for people to get to.
Isnt it all tv driven. Fox games start at 7 & 9 East coast time

You haven't figured out that it's all about television scheduling?
As long as we are one of the few Central Time Zone teams in an Eastern Time Zone dominated league we will be suck with this crappy early scheduling. However, playing at 8 (or, really, 8:30) as the back half of a double-header is much better than playing at 9 (or 9:30) if the DH started at 7 central, so we have that going for us.

Well obviously not if I'm asking. But thanks for the put down big shot. ?-(
Fox Sports 1. And that $4 million per year.

I figured that would mean we'd get more 8 pm games. I would think 7 pm would be prime time for East Coast. Last night, Creighton hosted Butler. Between the location and two teams, it makes sense they'd get the later time.
I like money coming in. So I guess it makes sense. But man that is frustrating.
But I get why it occurs I suppose.

Yep. It's not about the $8 million in the seats.

If you loved the 6pm start time, I'm sure you can't wait for the 11am tip-off next Monday for MLK Day.
At least Hinkle Field House should be less of a home-court advantage when it's half-empty.
It blows my mind why some don't understand start times. It's only been going on for 20 plus years.

I do like the change this year as many dates in Nov & Dec were 5:30 & 7:30Pm starts on FS1.
Try making a 6pm start when you work in Chicago. :-\
At least I am not getting home 5 hours before my morning alarm goes off.
OT spoiled my 8:30pm dinner reservations.
6pm start times do suck. But it is what it is.
Considering, I'm on the East Coast I like the 7:00pm start. I actually got to watch a Marquette game with my kids.
The 6pms have historically killed MUs homecourt advantage. It wiuld be nice if the BE could attempto manipulate the schedule where the CST teams dont have the 7pm EST home games. But as was said earlier they are nice for us EST guys.
Maybe MU could some things on their end to counteract? Creighton had their annual $1 beer night. Would of definitely been a good night for it for MU too
The attendance as a whole tho us quite intriguing, i recall going to games when Dukiet was coaching, ie the lowest of lows and MU was getting 13-15k a night, in the MCC

Or 9 a.m. for us on the west coast.

Well, MU only has two, 6pm home games and zero 8:15pm FS1 game this season. So, the Big East/FS1 has done many nice changes this season. Doubleheader last night was the two schools hosting were central time zone teams.

I'm willing to wager Hinkle won't be half empty.
The 6pm games are great!
I leave work a bit early, stop home for a quick family dinner and then all 6 of us head to game. It's awesome! I much prefer that to an 8pm tip-off.

Agreed.
6 PM is too early for people. 8 PM is too late for people. People always find something to be unhappy about.

Is that you MUavenue??
Marquette won on national TV last night!!!!
(old timers will appreciate this)
What's the situation for people who hate the 6pm game? Do they work in the suburbs? Want to go home first? Can't meet at the wisconsin club for a drink before hand?
I work downtown and love the 6pm game. Just leave work around 530, park and walk 15 min and still in my seats by tipoff. Eat at refugee during half and get a nice smoothie and wrap. You are home before 830. Get to bed early. Man I'm getting old.
Bucks games get rough where you have a 7pm start and a 2.5 hour game. It's 10 by the time you get home.

I come from downtown too. Downtown Chicago. Sleet and rain, a major pile up and rush hour in two cities is special.

Yessir.
For those of us in the ET zone, it's sure nice to have games not start at 9pm. I'm watching either way, but Mrs. MU82 - aka my Sugar Mama - needs to get to sleep so she can wake up early and make me $$$$!
I wasn't really complaining for my sake. 6p was fine with me due to my job. But it just really brings out a small crowd. My main thing was crowd size is never as big as a 7/730 start.
Played basketball at the y from 2 to 5:30. Still managed to arrive 15 minutes late. Wish it was a 6:30 start.
