10 years ago today, January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone.
I would argue this was one of the most successful products in human history It not only one made Apple rich but did as much to change culture like few products have done before. The iPhone is in the category with the Auto, air conditioner and the telephone itself.
The economist Robert Gordon (Northwestern University) says the most significant "product" in human history was indoor plumbing. After its introduction the incidence of infection and disease fell and human life expectancy rose like no new product has done before or since.
So is the ultimate compliment for the iPhone is to say it is as important as a toilet!
And in honor of this, I'm sending this message from my iPhone on a toilet.
I would argue that NeXT was the biggest game changer.
NeXT is not even close to being in the conversation. It was another forgettable computer that made a few incremental advancements.
Regarding technology, I would argue the next most significant product was the Graphical User Interface (GUI). AKA, the mouse.

Except it was where Jobs developed the technology that spawned the iOS, iPod, iPhone, Pixar, iPad, etc.
