Get healthy. Has anyone heard a prognosis/update?

Per #mubb head coach Steve Wojciechowski, junior guard Duane Wilson is day-to-day (groin). Hasn't been able to do much at practice yet.
Not great.
Gr-gr-gr-groin injuries can be tough.

+1
I hope Duane is able to play, I think he's one of the better defenders on the team

Probably not playing then. There is no prognosis because nobody knows. When they say "day to day," they mean we have no clue, could be tomorrow, could be two weeks.
Now that BDasotb has surfaced, does he have any insights as to when Du might be ready to return?
If you follow Duane on Instagram, it appears that he might be playing on Wednesday

Great news!
I think the coaches will wait until he is 100%.
The problem with groin injuries is that they can usually feel just fine as you go about your day. Jog a little bit? No problem. But then you do something "athletic?" And you notice it again. It is a very frustrating injury.

Awesome news. We'll need him for this game and the rest of the season.

Surprised Smuggles didn't have that first, him being better than Matt and all.
Its not too late. He may start his own thread.
Duane is a big part of this team. He provides a good spark of the bench

I agree with this analysis.
I think a healthy Duane could have been a difference maker against SHU. I don't think he would have made a difference against Villanova. Sometimes you just have to take your whuppin. If he is healthy and mobile tonight, he will give Wojo another tool if either JjJ or HC are playing poorly. So, welcome back, young man.
Wondering if it could advantageous to start Duane in HC place and see if it lights a fire under Cheatham to get out from his slump

I don't think it's a lack of motivation that is hurting Haanif.

No. That tool gets used when the starter isn't playing with effort and passion. Haanif is still playing his arse off. He just can't buy a basket.

I agree but perhaps some of that is just a need to focus on little things or being a bit too amped up as a starter? Just ideas.
I understand your reasoning. Like moving a batter up or down the line up just to clear his head. And maybe it would work with Haanif. My instinct is to let it play out as is and let Haanif figure it out. Also, is Duane, coming off of the injury, really going to be able handle starter's minutes? Maybe, in a game or two, if HC still can't buy a basket and Duane has his stamina, try it then.

Starting the game ≠ starters minutes.
I think MU needs to let HC run the show on Saturday. Run the offense through him - let him poor in 20+. That is what he needs.

Run the offense through our least efficient and effective offensive player...hmm...think Wojo will veto that idea.

I don't think it's so clear that he's the least efficient/effective offensive player, and thus wouldn't be a bad idea to try to get him out of his slump while against a lesser opponent.
That being said I'm interested in hearing what sorts of things you can do in this offense to run it through HC vs. any other guy on the team. It's not necessarily the kind of offense you "run through" someone aside from drawing up plays out of timeouts for the guy.

Forgetting all those valid points, we aren't good enough to assume we can defeat DePaul by running a sub-optimal game plan designed to get someone out of a slump.

Ok "run the offense through" may not have been the proper wording, but basically what I meant is Saturday is a good opportunity to get HC out of his slump. Let him take some shots. Let him drive the lane. Hopefully let him watch the ball go through the net several times.
A few short weeks ago, HC was one of our best offensive players. To say he is now our least is a bit of stretch. We need HC to be able to score the basketball. Saturday is a good opportunity to get him out of his funk.

wojo should play the players who give us the best chance to win. It's easy to say, but it's the law of the wolf pack. The playing time should be determined by who's the best in practice and then contingent upon actual play during a game.
Agreed. That is how Haanif emerged the starter. Duane hasn't had enough time back to take over the starting position.
