was wojo planning on going with rowsey to close out the game, rather than howard, until he fouled out?
Not likely. Howard was already at the scorers table to check in (preseumably for Rowsey) when AR picked up his 5th.

Yeah. I was joking that Rowsey purposely missed the third free throw attempt since Howard was about to replace him after the made free throw.
My thought was as long as the lead stayed at a comfortable distance Wojo was going to keep Rowsey in until the last 3 minutes of the game. He was going to let Rowsey foul out before Howard was going to foul out.
By the way, when MU is up, let's say 4+ inside the last 90 seconds of the game, how nice is it to be able to throw out a lineup of Rowsey, Howard, JJJ, Katin, and Hauser to break a press and shoot free throws before doing a defensive sub? 3 guys who all were successful in breaking the press yesterday (Rowsey, Howard, Katin), a 4th who can help in breaking a press (JJJ), and a guy who doesn't make many mistakes and who is our "designated inbounder" in these situations (Hauser). Oh and the free throw percentages of 96, 96, 93, 83, and 77 don't hurt, either.

Rowsey was coming out of the game had he made his third FT. Wojo was putting Howard in to close out the game. My guess is that he didn't put him in sooner because he trusted the upperclassman playing with 4 fouls more than he trusted the true frosh.
If neither has fouled out, I don't know why both Rowsey and Howard wouldn't be on the court in the final minute of an obvious they're-gonna-foul-us game.
Our two best ballhandlers and FT shooters.
And I agree with wades ... it's so nice for a change to have guys who I KNOW will hit those clutch FTs.

Nice to have Hauser in that mix to help combat the press and with the ability to knock down free throws. I thought his role in helping with the press was overlooked on the broadcast. He showed great patience and instincts in ball faking, bounce passing and throwing the ball up ahead when warranted. Don't think he dribbled one time, but he helped relieve the pressure, and his height certainly helps with that. The one time KH was in on the press break that I recall, he brought the ball to Howard's side taking away the spacing, and tried to dribble the ball up the court. In fairness, he did get fouled, but dribbling through traffic is not the way to break the press.
Hauser was very much under the radar last night, but seems to be one of those guys that is very hard for a coach to take off the floor because he does just about everything right. Very impressive at any level, but for a frosh to play that way bodes very well for the future.

Yeah that's more or less what I meant. He was going to keep Rowsey in as long as the lead remained at a safe distance until the last 3 minutes. I think Howard went to the scorers table around 3:20? left in the game. I think Wojo's mindset was, "If one of my 2 point guards has to foul out earlier, I'd rather have it be Rowsey, so I'll see how long I can ride him without having to put Howard in with 4 fouls, and then once it's time to really close this thing out I'll get Markus back into the game."

My guess is this works when the team pressing doesn't have length but G'Town has some length. Having two guys out there who cannot see over defenders and jump to get a high pass might be a problem.
