BE 9-5
Big 12 6-4 (Baylor with 4 of those)
ACC 7-13
Pac 12 4-10
Big 10 6-20
Interesting records going into conference play.
Awesome post.
Great stats. One other thing that really stood out to me with Kentucky and South Carolina losing big games last night: The SEC is 5-31 versus the RPI Top 50. Not good.
For comparison the Big East is 14-12.
Not Top 25 related, but I see Fairfield U. beat Boston College last night. Yikes!

Power 5 conferences (B1G, B12, ACC, SEC, P12) plus the Big East is 75 schools.
Deapul has the second to worst RPI of these 75.
The worst ... Boston College.
That is your Yikes.

And BC somehow beat Providence. We better sweep the Friars!
Great stats. There are a couple of more good nonconf games left...but this is pretty definitive.
I like that you used top-25....top-10, there are just not enough losses there. top-50 would be good too but a swamp of data.
Keep in mind: even though the BE has almost an 80% nonconf win percentage...my guess in-conference the BE will be 50% ;D :o ::)

Not sure where you're getting your RPI numbers, but I see BC (209) in front of Depaul (221), Mizzou (250), Oregon St (337).
Sorry, just noticed this was from last week.

OMG, a major conference team is 350 (OSU). That's appalling.
Mizzou is flirting with dumpster fire as well.

I don't understand what is going on there. They had a top 20 class last season. They brought in a top 50 class this season. Just awful.

One more reason that we need mathematicians in the world today. ;)

Part of it is losing Mr. Do-Everything GPII. And part of it is having your top two guys miss a combined 13 games already. (Tinkle has a broken wrist and won't be back for a while.) But to bring it full circle w/ Yukonberg's thread, they did beat the Kent State team that beat Texas.
BC must be making a ton of money to justify their jump. I forget if it was last year or the year before they were 0-for the ACC (football AND basketball). That is pretty pathetic.

What jump are you referring to?

A better metric this early in the season might be Kenpom
As of today (12/28) these are the bottom four P5 plus BE teams (again, total of 75 teams)
Missouri 166
Boston College 193
Depaul 198
Oregon State 204
A few days ago BC was last and Deapul was second to last
Then right before Christmas
* BC upset Providence
* Oregon State beat Kent State by 19 (see the Shaka threads on this)
* Depaul lost to Missouri State
