Since I seem to make all my significant decisions based on what Scoopers would do, should I be rooting for 'Cuse or the Badgers right now?
Eff the Badgers
There is absolutely ZERO reasons to EVER root for UW...none, zero, zilch, nada. That should not even be a thought in someone's head.
Superbar.
Tactical nuke?

ZERO. What is the AA graduation rate for both those teams, Alex?
Eff the Badgers.
Wisconsin, for RPI purposes.

Badgers v. ND, in a year when MU plays neither or both. Discuss. [Chili, please abstain so that you don't twist yourself into a sustained frenzy of hate]
Why would anyone want to root for UW?
Badgers won. It helps us because Creighton beat Badgers.

Legs, you owe me a drink for this post.
Wisconsin put on a clinic on how to attack a 2-3 zone.
Wasn't impressed with Syracuse's interior. UW was pushing them around all night.

Yes, Nigel Hayes was great at getting open at the free throw line, and then quickly passing it off (often to Happ) as the defense collapsed on him.
I think I'm fine with UW winning. It's no longer my #1 vs. #2 most despised coaches. #2 moved up and I don't particularly mind Gard.
Supporting UW makes sense from a rational standpoint — at least if you live in the state of Wisconsin. My taxes help pay for the university, and the athletic program is important to its success. Why would I want it to fail?
Plus, a great rivalry depends on great teams. Otherwise, Duke-NC or Ohio State-Michigan simply wouldn't be the legendary match-ups they are today. Marquette-UWM could be a fantastic rivalry if the Panthers were worth playing.
And as mentioned, I can see rooting for Wisconsin over Syracuse since UW is on our schedule. The opponent of our opponent is our enemy. Or something like that. At the very least, it helps our strength of schedule.
But who said being a fan has anything to do with being rational? Suck it Badgers. Hope you have a miserable season filled with heartbreak and disappointment.
Head says go Badgers. Heart says Buck the Fadgers.
Next season will be really interesting for the Vadgers. They will lose 4 starters to graduation. There has been speculation that Happ goes pro after this year (don't know how realistic that is). If all five go, that would be a lot to replace in season. Bo was always good at pulling something out of his butt in these situations. Will Gard be as good?

I remember feeling that way going into the 2013-14 season. They lost Evans, Berggren, and Brusewitz. The only decent returning players they seemed to have were Brust and Dekker. Then suddenly Traveon Jackson became a viable starting point, Gasser came back from injury as a super-role player, Frank became all-world, and Hayes and Koenig were instant contributors on their way to the first of back-to-back Final Fours.
I felt like that going into last season, too. Kaminsky, Jackson, Gasser, and Dukan graduated while Dekker went pro early. Hayes and Koenig were decent, but beyond that the team was crap. Brown was a terrible offensive option, Showalter a walk-on, and Happ an unproven freshman. Ended in the Sweet 16 after knocking off a Xavier team that I thought had real Final Four potential.
I'm done predicting their demise. Knowing Bucky, Trice and Iverson will become all-league players, Thomas will morph into a 40% three-point threat, and the rest of the roster will end up playing efficient, effective basketball enroute to 25 wins. Gard already worked a miracle with last year's seemingly broken squad, no reason to think they won't just keep on keeping on.

Phew! I'll bet Bucky is relieved to hear that!
