A woman who was involved in an extramarital affair with former Wisconsin men's basketball coach Bo Ryan has filed a federal lawsuit against several top university officials, alleging defamation, invasion of privacy and deprivation of due process.
Details of the lawsuit were first reported by the Wisconsin State Journal.
The complaint, filed in federal court in Madison on Wednesday by Robin Van Ert, claims that the university conducted a "sham" investigation after Van Ert brought them allegations that Ryan misused school resources during their affair, from 2009 until 2014.
About damn time.
Honest question, why would she have the right to sue UW? What wrong did they do to her? Let's say it turns out Bo did use UW funds. What does that have to do with her or any wrongful doing in her direction? If UW's investigation wasn't sufficient isn't that more a problem with either the state or the NCAA, or both? I don't see how she could've possibly not known the guy she was willingly in a relationship for 5 years with was married and why she would have any right to any money here...

They publicly released her identity after she tried to be a whistle blower.

This is America, I thought you could sue anyone for anything.

Also, sources say Bo hummed "On Wisconsin" while she hummed him.
This will be settled. Otherwise, it will cause a ton of stink and embarrassment for UW. It's too bad it won't go to trial, though.

I thought Bo's philosophy was bigs on the outside, smalls on the inside.

The sad thing is that people in Madison knew about this years ago, but the media never reported on it because of the winning under Bo.
The moment an athletics program places winning above all else, like a Baylor or a Penn State, you sacrifice the mission and values of the school and institution.
