Title: Donnie Tillman & Jacob Epperson
Post by: GoldenDieners32 on November 21, 2016, 08:02:32 PM
Real talented kids that i think can help this program both in class of 2017. Recruiting staff needs to recruit these kids harder they got great talent

Tillman is an interesting case.  We seemed to be recruiting him, then he slipped in the rankings and we went cold.  Then it looked like Utah was closing in on him, but he didn't sign in the fall.  Now a bunch of schools are back in on him.

He is a former teammate of Markus' at Findlay.

I would caution against taking both Tillman and Epperson. If you do that, that leaves you with only one scholarship for 2018. One has got to believe that the only way that Joey Hauser does not get that scholarship is if he goes somewhere else. That would leave us with only senior Carter and junior Howard at the PG position. Which is a pretty great duo. But I would like to get a PG in that 2018 class. We've been kicking the tires on Courtney Ramey and Ayo Dosunmu, either would be a spectacular get.

Of course with as many transfers as there are, another schollie is likely to open up. But I'd rather get a grad transfer and one of Tillman/Epperson than two freshmen. I know we're still on Epperson (but so is everyone). Haven't heard much about Tillman in awhile.

Agreed, TAMU. The flexibility we get from Sandy leaving now is pretty limited. Epperson would be my first choice of options we know are out there, after that a grad transfer big would probably be most ideal to help give the 2017 class time to develop. I really think we need a PG in 2018, maybe more than we need Joey Hauser. Ramey and Dosunmu are also at the top of my list. Hauser and one of those two would be a fantastic class.

Don't worry.  There will be more transfers.  There always is.

It's awesome to have someone on here who knows the team's needs better than the coaching staff.  You must have played in high school.

TAMU---Question--Wouldn't we have two schollies in 2017 instead
of one? Therefore Tillman and Epperson with Cain, Eke and John.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.  2018 would be open for Hauser
and Dosunmu and Bailey.

We have two schollies for 2017. But because  we replace senior Sandy with a 2nd freshmen we lose that scholarship in 2018.

Add to that the likelihood that either Rowsey will grad transfer or Traci Carter leaving the program. Just sayin. It certainly looks like Howard is the PG of the future, can't imagine either being 3rd string for Junior or Senior seasons....guys want to play. At some point Wojo will need to play only 2 PGs, I personally see Rowsey being the odd man out.

I'm sure you don't tell your coaches what to do....so hard for you to be telling the MU staff what to do.  Enjoy your HS bball years.

It would be crazy to sign 2 freshman bigs to a roster that already has 2 freshman signed.  If we are going to be decent next year we need a mature post player to join that class.  Jae type JC player would be perfect.  A Grad transfer would work but the JC would be better.  Finally a mid term transfer like Fish would be ok.  Got to have some experience.  Can't rely on Heldt only.  Use the other Scholarship for a 3rd freshman big if you can get a true center like Epperson.

Rowsey would have to grad transfer. Otherwise he is stuck with us do to the 6 year rule.
