Who is headed to NYC for the games this week? Would be fun to meet up with some fellow scoopers for a couple beers beforehand.
Envious, wish I had the freedom.
Will have to be satisfied with cupcakes at home.
Just touched down. Anyone recommend bars around the Garden?
Marquette Club of NYC will be at Mustang Harry's prior to the games at MSG.

Those are usually fun. Killing me that I can't go to these games.

If you like Irish bars cross 7th street and go down 33rd. Stout, Feile, and the Blarney are all right next to each other. Foley's is another block down 33rd street. Stout and Feile have solid beer lists. I've been to Stout and Foleys before, both solid but nothing out of the ordinary
7th ave, my bad

For something a little more extraordinary, why not class it up and go to the bar at The NoMad Hotel. It's not in the immediate vicinity of the Garden but still only a 10 min walk. I wish MU would class it up and not always pick Mustang Harry's which is exactly like all of the other generic Irish pubs I abhor. I'm just not into the middle. Either I'm at a lanche like dive or a place like the Nomad.

The Ace hotel one block away from the Nomad is also a solid choice. http://www.acehotel.com/newyork Again both are a short walk from the Garden and the Nomad in particular will have great NYC Thursday night happy hour people watching. If you go to either, but particularly the NoMad do NOT under any circumstances show up wearing visible team gear as you'll look totally out of place.
Another really good spot within a 10 min walk of the garden but not right in the immediate vicinity is the bar at Keen's Chophouse on West 36th St just east of 6th Ave. between 5th and 6th. The bar at Keens has tons of character compared to the myriad of generic places right around the garden and one of the best selections of single malt scotches in the city. They also have a great pub menu that's less expensive than the main dining room. Keens is not as sceney as the two hotel bars I mentioned so team attire would be ok there. http://www.keens.com/
Looking forward to the game tomorrow! I'll be there!

Keens has that amazing collection of Pipes on the ceiling.
So what's the consensus? Nomad sounds like cool alternative. Agree Harry's ain't nothin special. Been to ace before as well.
I'll be there. White polo tomorrow, baby blue polo on Friday.
Can't make this weekend (work) but will be down for St. John's. Thanks for the warning - will studiously avoid any place where team gear is frowned upon. Don't hide your light under a bushel!
I'll be there tonight and tomorrow, making it to Mustang Harry's before and dragging a Michigan alum buddy with me tonight.
I am going tomorrow. Depends on game time whether or not the wife joins.

Let's do Keens at 7:30P! Don't know any of you guys but hopefully we'll find each other as I'm rolling solo.
At Mustang Harry's now, great Marquette crowd.
