Title: Pitt getting owned by Dayton!!
Post by: muwarrior87 on December 29, 2007, 08:30:49 PM
Dayton leads 57-40 with just under 14 minutes to go.  Looks like there is going to be another upset.  Lots of traveling being called both ways and Pit down to a lone timeout with all that time.

Switching back and forth between this one and football...saw Levance Fields go off with (probably) an ankle...straight to the locker room.  Anyone hear how bad?

Stepped on foot from how they're making it out. Fields sprained his ankle.

Dayton fans chanting "This is our house" with under 2 to go. Final 80-55 Dayton.  That team looks solid!

Wasn't the game at Dayton?   That chant seems to make a whole lot more sense when you're the visiting team.

I've never understood the "This is our house" chant.  Who else's house would it be?     Unless you're the NY Jets playing the Giants in East Rutherford, where there might be some confusion on exactly whose house it is, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

.. Maybe .. weak maybe .. MU vs. UWM, either the BC or the Mecca .. that chant might make sense.   Actually, that might be fun in 2011, when MU goes 39-0 and reclaims the Mecca as their house.   Kind of a second, vacation home.

I think it absolutely makes sense at the Mecca, given that we've played about 500 more games there than UWM, have about 400 more wins, and have drawn about 4.5 million more fans.

Maybe in 2054 UWM will own the place--but I think in 2011 it's still ours. :)

I wish Marquette played Dayton like we used to in non-conference play. I'd much rather play them than these cup cakes we've been feasting on the last few weeks. A team like Dayton would do a lot more to prepare us for the Big Beast than Savannah State and Coppin State.

Wasn't there some deal where we were supposed to play Dayton for a "buy game" and we didn't give them the money and cancelled the game or something like that?

I think we had a home and home with Dayton. Dayton never returned and paid MU instead.

This is true--however, we were in CUSA at the time.

I have heard Crean talk about that situation and he was less than thrilled with Dayton for reneging. I am not sure what SJS's point is about being in CUSA at the time, though.

Sorry for the confusion--I made a separate point that BE teams should not be scheduling home-and-home's with A10 teams, since all we've done is boost the NCAA tournament chances for Rhode Island, Dayton and UMass.  That should have been in another thread.
