I would happily take French. I am a big believer in 'bird in hand' instead of waiting to see if we can land Epperson from a plethora of suitors in the spring. Also, I think a true 5 is overrated. A team can be quite effective with an assortment of 6'8-6'9 guys.
If French goes elsewhere, unless someone equally good is willing to commit now, THEN you wait until spring, feeling good about what you already have and patiently waiting to see who shakes out.
I'm cool with either French or Epperson, either would be great, but if I had to pick, I'd have a slight preference for Epperson just because his height gives us some different options. I could see him developing similar to Luke.
I'm cool with Kostas.

I'm convinced it's either French or wait 'till Spring.

That seems to be the scenario. Marquette is on Nwora's top 12 "finalists" according to his twitter. Epperson would be another key target, though Marquette was not listed on his top 8 by 247. Although I'm not convinced that list is accurate.
Part of me wants to get greedy. If Wojo can get MU to the tourney, he might have better options in the spring or even 2018. If he misses on Nwora and Epperson, then 4 spots in 2018 could be 2 guards, Bailey, and either Joey Hauser or Race Thompson. There are some good guards MU is after in 2018 and a tourney bid combined with available playing time could yield a Prentiss Hubb or Quentin Grimes type.
