Title: NY Giants Thread
Post by: muwarrior69 on September 19, 2016, 08:31:34 AM
Wow! My Giants are 2-0. Ok, I'm sure there are some East Coast Warriors here on this board interested in the Giants. Go Big Blue!

Giants suck.

I'm going to be at the Packer-Giant game in a few weeks, the wheels will start wobbling versus the Vikings and then come clean off against the Packers.   ;)

You may be right. I'm shocked that they're 2-0; but then again that is why we play the games.

Let's pump the breaks here. They've squeeked out 2 wins against 2 bad teams. Then again someone has to win the NFC East.

Who woulda  thunk it, my Giants are 8-3 in second place behind Dallas at 11-1 in the "worst" division in the NFL.

2 of the 5 Packers wins have come from that Division.  No good.

And yet the division as a whole is a NFL-best 16 games over .500.

Any my Jets are 3-8 and thinking about drafting yet another mediocre QB.  Some things never change...

Not quite the "Cubs" well now the "Indians" of the NFL. Still remember Namath killing the Colts in '69. I guess there are other NFL team waiting longer to win the Superbowl, Detroit comes to mind. The Giants really sucked for some 30 years until 1986. Want to win games, pay big for a good offensive line.

I started following them in the 1971 season.  It all hasn't been horrible, no SBs since I've been a fan, but a few AFC championship games.  I was mostly referring to their inability to find a QB for a long time now.

More like 20 years .....  but it sure seemed like 30 !

The New York Giants had largely dominated the NFL Eastern Conference from 1956 through '63, coming in first in six of those eight seasons and winning one championship. The string had begun under Head Coach Jim Lee Howell, who retired following the 1960 season, and continued under his successor, Allie Sherman. While the offense, guided by QB Y.A. Tittle, had been highly productive from 1961 to '63, it was the strong and savvy defensive unit that had consistently made the Giants a contender.

Thus, it was shocking on April 10, 1964 when New York traded one of the key players on the defense, MLB Sam Huff  The Giants played in the 1963 Championship game and lost 14-10 to the Bears.

Technically correct; buy a 30 year drought  ('56 - '86) between championships.

They keep surprising me. Sharing the 2nd best record in the NFC and beating Dallas, twice.
