6 Big East teams in the Top 25 as well.
#7 Xavier
#14 Villanova
#18 Butler
#19 Creighton
#22 Marquette
#24 Providence
Thanks for posting. One more indicator of just how strong the Big East is. (And possibly getting even better.)
Wojo can't recruit in the Big East
Stupid, worthless snapshot of a dumb calculation
Probably true, but a little harsh. I'm not sure these rankings are any less worthy than most of the rampant speculation on this site during the offseason.
There is very little of real substance to report or talk about between the national championship and Marquette Madness. Nobody transferred. We know MU's non-conference schedule. And 3 Class of 2017 recruits verbally committed to Marquette.
That's pretty much all the news of the summer. Yet Scoopers still found enough worthy of discussion to generate thousands of posts.
Thank goodness actual games are only a couple months away.

Because the one thing Scoop is good at is thoughtful and thorough analysis of actual basketball games.

God help us when we get to the annual DePaul loss.

lol
fan n [short for
fanatic]
1: an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport) usu. as a spectator
2: marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion
I appreciate a number of thoughtful and insightful perspectives on MUScoop during the regular season. They may not exactly make up the majority. But I see no mention of either "thoughtful" or "thorough" in the above definition.

We are going to crush DePaul within an inch of their lives.
And then do it again a few weeks later!

Oh god is that a tradition now?
One of the first college basketball games I remember going to was actually a Marquette vs DePaul game at the Alstate Arena. Couldn't tell you what year it was but I know Sammy Mejia was still there and that DePaul beat Marquette.

I think I was at that game! Didn't Dom James chuck up a 27 foot three pointer with a full shot clock late to seal the loss?

It always feels like it. In the Old Big East it was Rutgers or South Florida grouped in there for one of those. But since NBE--DePaul seems to be it.

MU has no problem getting highly rated players
What do you guys think we will end up after all the big dogs get signed?
Would we still be top 20 range with either Tillman/French

I agree with this analysis.

Unlikely. According to 247, Tillman would get us to the #10 class currently. 33 out of the current top 50 are uncommitted, including 20 5 star players. Once the chips fall I would imagine our class would end up in the 20-30 range.

HA! Well done.
I am not too worried about the ranking of this class. It may not be flashy, but Wojo went out and got what we needed. These guys seem to do the dirty work that we've been missing.

This class didn't need to be highly ranked, it needed strength and depth up front. John and Eke provide that, and Tillman, French, or Stockard would only improve that. Cain gives us some upside for the future and with Cohen, Cheatham, Anim, and Hauser, will be able to grow into the role.
Now Heldt won't be alone in 2017 and in the years to come, we won't have to worry about those teams that march out 3-4 guys that are 6'8" to 6'10", we will be that team. This class may not be rated like 2015 or 2016, but in this league, it may be even more important to our future success.

Look at Michigan State over the years. Yes they get a couple of marquee guys each year or two, but for the most part they stock the shelves with lots of athletic tough guys like we are getting this year. I think it really helps in the tournament when a player fouls out it is no big deal, they have plenty more on the bench.
I agree in the league we are in it really is important to get the kind of guys we are getting. Look at Seton Hall. After Whitehead the rest of the team was really pretty much a clone of itself. Big tough boarding types.
I really like this class and am looking forward to the final commit. We got a lot of offensive fire power in the 2015 and 16 classes which will mature nicely and will go well with these young bodies in the coming years.
