So with there not being a meme tournament this year we've obviously had some odd topics and things have been slow. So I was thinking what if we did a tournament of every MU postseason team (or at least the top 30 with a couple play in nit teams) I'll seed them, try to do a write up and we can vote and see how it plays out.
Thoughts? Just trying to give us something exciting to do till madness!
If you build it they will come.

Wojo underperformed!!!!
More seriously, really can't compare many years. Even for years like 76-77 where there are statistics, 3-pt shooting didn't become a major component of the NCAA's to the late 80's early 90's.
All teams before then will suffer due to lower perceived eFG%.
Useless to use statistics to compare across decades.
I also ran the Wade team vs last year, and the Wade team won a few simulations by 20 pts.

Also looks like the simulation gave the present day guys a 3 pt line, but not the 77 guys
77 had a better FT%... how could they lose?!
Not surprised that the 2015-16 team squeaked by the 1976-77 Warriors. Considering that Jerome Whitehead is dead and the rest of those guys are about 60 a two point loss seems like a fair estimate.

I think you are underestimating who good Whitehead was in assuming that being in a grave would stop him from dominating the 15-16 folk.

I noticed that, though with the new guys shooting 2/17 from beyond the arc, I'm not sure it really helped them.
I'll take this to mean that nobody would like to see how this would play out. Ok :)

This is the true answer. If you take the time to put it together and start posting game threads, you'll get interest. But you probably won't get people lining up to do the legwork for you.

This is 100% true.
My vote...MU has appeared in the Sweet 16 exactly 16 times. Take all of these teams, and seed them based on the strength of the team (using primarily W-L or season RPI, if available), NOT their postseason performance (for example, the 1977 was NOT Al's best team, W-L wise).
Take a vote on each game to determine who would advance using the forum poll. Each poll can include a brief write-up on each team's season performance from the MUScoop wiki. Play the tournament all the way out until you have a winner.
Would be fun, and only a little bit of work.

Good idea, though I'd feel sorry for the 1970 NIT champs being left out. But of someone put this together, it'd garner interest.
I'll do it, not sure I'm just gonna do the sweet 16 teams because there's certain teams that are phenomenal that would get left out for example id like to see public vote on 08-09 vs say 10-11. Sure 2011 got hot but 2009 was by far the better team.
I'll start this after work and hopefully have the first round launch tomorrow or Monday

Yeah - and Brew made a good point about the 1970 team. Gotta draw the line somewhere though. Its your baby, include who you want. I just thought the 16 Sweet 16 teams worked well.

Figuring that the 70 team was actually invited to the tournament so that's a perfect 32.
I just hope the 2011-12 team is the highest seeded of all the late 2000 early 2010 teams. What's the ruling on injuries like Dom James in his senior year and Otule in 2011-12?

Otule was injured on both those teams haha but I'd say we imagine them at their best

Speaking for myself, I'd rate the James team very high. The two best teams of my Marquette watching life were that one and 2003. Which was better? Honestly not sure.
