Title: All time MU starting lineup
Post by: ChitownSpaceForRent on July 09, 2016, 11:45:58 PM
My friends and I were talking about our all time NBA starting lineup today and that got me thinking about Marquettes. However for an added challenge, you can only pick one player from each decade. So one from the 70s, one from the 80s, etc. Up to your discression if you want to use the 60s or 2010s

PG: Doc Rivers (80s)
SG: Dwyane Wade (00s)
SF: Jimmy Butler (10s)
PF: Bo Ellis (70s)
C: Jim Mcilvaine (90s)

I really wanted to use Tony Miller as the point and for the 90s, but I honestly couldn't think of another player from the 80s besides Doc.

The all-time starting five would be this

G  Butch Lee
G  Dwyane Wade
F   Bo Ellis
F   Maurice Lucas
C   Jim Chones

You can be as arbitrary as you want, but this is it.

Second team

G  Dean Meminger
G  Lloyd Walton, Phd
F   George Thompson
F   Earl Tatum
C   Jim Mcilwaine

I know, but we've done the first team second team thing so many times now I'd figure I'd switch it up and go for a challenge. It's hard to only use 1 player from the 70s.

Would be fun to pit the best starting 5 from each head coach.

Al would obviously win, but Buzz vs. TC would be a great matchup

If you count the three Amigos as TC (recruited eby TC and played 3 of their 4 years for him) - who do they replace from the Final 4 team? My take:

Diener
Wade
McNeal
Matthews
R. Jackson

Novak just misses the cut - first off the bench

Buzz:

DJO
Vander
Butler
Crowder
Gardner

Think you gotta give the edge to TC's team

You could throw Wade out there with 4 guys from the winner of the Men's Intramural B League and they'd still win.  Wade was a man among boys.

But if you do go with the best guys available then Novak makes the cut without any question.  Assuming we're talking about wha they were as college players, Novak makes it over Matthews.

What about the All Time Mike Deane team?
