I was told second hand that there was a D1 college basketball player from the area who went elsewhere that was back home for a bit this summer and played some pickup ball at the Al with the MU guys. This player said that Rowsey was "Killing it" and was the best player by far.
I will admit I wasn't a big fan when I didn't have any real knowledge of his game when he committed to Marquette, but after hearing that he was dominating Carter and Cheatham before the Italy trip and now hearing this, I think this kid is going to be really good for us. Looking forward to him showing it in an MU uniform.
Have heard from a few people this summer that Rowsey is a legit player. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people. Would not surprise me at all if he was one of the leaders of this team next year not just in terms of playing ability but vocally and emotionally as well.
I believe rowsey will be the leading scorer next year. Him and jujuan might go great together with his outside ability and jujuan slashing
Crean sucks
ND sucks
But was he walking around in a boot?
i might have to ditch the 80" er and recapture my season tix! i have some good feelings about coming season. they have the potential ingredients for being a very exciting team to watch

Job done, Scoop. Now move along; there's nothing to see here.

Rowsey scored 1000 points in D1 play already. I am delighted he is on our team. He has had a year to get stronger, work on his game and build chemistry with teammates. I think he will be a fan favorite.

pardon my naivety, but just not on the same wavelength here
The guy scored 20 points a game at the D1 level and around 40% from 3. I don't care what conference you play in, that's impressive. I'm not surprised. Hopefully that means I won't have to watch Carter play 25MPG.
I really wish Gill would have committed. They would have went from young to experienced in 6 months.
Markus.
I hope everything everyone is saying about Rowsey is true. I hope everything that Jay Bee is saying about Markus is true. However, if they are, MU is in trouble. In the Big East, you simply can't start two <6' guards. Unless you are Buzz. A starting lineup of 5'10, 5'11, 6'5, 6'5, 6'11? (Rowsey, Howard, JjJ, Cheatham, Luke) IMO, the only way to make this work is to play uptempo and press.

Reinhardt will be one of our top 5 players....so that's at least 6'6....

I am very enthusiastic about Rowsey but I dont see him as a starter or on the floor at the same time as another smaller player for the reasons you site. I will reserve comment on Markus until such time as he actually plays in college games. He has great upside potential but we need to see how he makes the high school to college adjustment. from all the reports it sounds as if he should adapt well and quickly which would be great because I think he can do things that will make everyone else even more effective.
I've heard very similar things about Rowsey since he got here. I've even heard some Travis Diener comparisons....maybe not quite in talent level, but in attitude and play style.

Not worried we have played a lot smaller before.
That coach doesn't coach here anymore.
Wojo has assembled a lot of talent. He didn't bring in these players without a plan. Size counts — but so do quickness, veteran leadership, spacing, passing, outside shooting, ball handling, and defense. Think we could be a very versatile team. Going small might be a great option in certain game situations. Have to see what the rotation and substitutions look like.

I think he's going to be a quick fan favorite. Well...favorite of our fans, at least. Everyone else is probably going to hate him.
warriors will be tough to be beat this season.
I'm just hoping Rowsey and/or Markus can hit the easy 3s.

Remember when he paid his own way to New York & spent the Legends Classic yapping at Ben Simmons?
I remember a discussion way back about Rowsey playing off the ball. So I suppose I can envision where he and Howard might be on the court together. Guess my worry would be on the defensive end. But it sure will be nice if we can always have multiple shooters on the court. Should really open up the driving lanes for JjJ and Hanni.
How many college 2 guards have a post game you have to worry about with a small defender on him?

True, but I do worry about the 6"6 Kellen Dunham types just launching threes over them. But even then shorter defenders can just get into their grill. I think Howard and Rowsey will be just fine on the floor together. I do only think one of them will start.
I'm not worried about the two guards being too short. I'm worried about a lack of a power forward. And I'm really not very worried about that for this year anyway.

Rebounding?
Small teams can rebound.
Look, we all to think basketball is about height. OK, if I am 7'5",, maybe. But I've seen enough clumsy tall guys in my life to think, ugh!
Winning basketball is about spacing, positioning, strength and endurance. Hillbilly's Boot Camp was something I loved because our guys were fresh as the game ended. Al had some midget teams that were incredible rebounders because they could leap and they were strong -- not to mention mean.
Not sure about this team and it's hard to get excited in late June about something we won't know more about until November, but I am optimistic that Coach Wojo has a plan. I do think the depth we have at guard will take some of the pressure off Luke and I suspect we can rotate in and out a very good complement of players who can wear our opponents down.
With a year's experience, I also suspect our offense will be more disciplined and less prone to breakdowns, lack of spacing or "Let Henry do It" plays!

True, but we were a poor rebounding team when we were big and had the top rebounder in the Big East. Losing HE and adding 3 guards to the rotation (two of whom are 5'10") won't likely solve that problem.
I hope all the positive 2nd hand information is true, and I'm not saying it's not.....but I will wait until a couple of non-conference games before I get worked up either way about Rowsey.

Forget that - I'm all in - Let's continue to ratchet up expectations until it is only possible to be disappointed.

I understand that. They *can* rebound. Not saying they *will* rebound.

With or without socks?
Here is my Scoop Prediction on Rowsey....
1. After Madness a large contingent of Scoopers will see Reinhardt, Johnson, Howard et al. and say Rowsey will be pinned to bench and never play.
2. After a couple of games against cupcakes where he scores 25 that same contingent will state he will be a starter going forward and will be all Big East.
3. After a couple of rough outings against Big East opponents that contingent will say he sucks, should never play, and will transfer at the end of the season
4. After he gets his feet wet in conference play will be a solid contributor for us and there will be his defenders and those will still say he sucks and player X should get all of his playing time.
Does that sum up next season as it relates to Rowsey?
Why limit it to Rowsey?

At about 3.5 there will questioning Wojo's ability to analyze talent and wondering......if Rowsey was a transfer from a Western school wouldn't Stan J. have told Wojo he wasn't that talented?
