Well this happened while we are wringing our hands about shuffling scholarships.
Holy crap
The NCAA ... what a shyte show. Makes the GOP presidential campaign look organized and competent.
That is really appalling. What is the point. Really.

You obviously didn't read the article.
I guess if paper classes are made available to the general student population then it isn't an impermissible benefit for the student athletes that took them as well, have to hand it to UNC. Of course former professor Julius Nyang'oro and his assistant Deborah Crowder refusing to talk to the NCAA helps since the NCAA doesn't have subpoena power.
Absolutely dumbfounding....
First they petition for more time to included women's basketball and men's soccer, which pushed the response time out for the NCAA from men's basketball season to now. Now, the NCAA is going to hammer women's basketball and not even address the football or men's basketball teams???
Incompetent doesn't even describe this process....
In order to punish UNC, Shouldn't the NCAA also be targeting East Somewhere State and Little Private University?

UNC-Asheville is going to get hammered because of this. Rowsey knew it was coming and that's why he transferred.
The local Raleigh papers have been following this closely.

My take on the whole thing, is that the NCAA knew this would lead down a rat hole with other institutions. So now the NCAA is putting out a new rule on academic standards that the schools themselves would monitor.
