Wally Ellenson, a 6-foot-6 redshirt junior guard, will not continue with the Marquette men’s basketball team, according to a source.

His 1.9 points will be tough to replace  ;). According to Gopher fans, the parents were a real handful in Minneapolis. Wojo is undoubtedly relieved to move on from the Ellensons.

Please don't.

Pathetic Vadger fans have done nothing over the years better than ripping on the parents of players.....let's not go there.

Agreed. Serves no purpose.

Well said.  No reason to call out parents.  Parents of high D-1 talent tend to be very invested in their kids, have spent countless hours following and driving their kids around, and tend to be involved.  That is just how it is... very involved.  Right or wrong, it goes with the territory.  Coaches know and understand it.

Wait, did we not bash the living hell out of Tim Maymon?  I guess this is somehow different?

some did.  Not right.  But then again, murder is wrong, but if you had a chance to kill Hitler is it wrong? There are situations outside normal reason maybe  :-X

Your point is well taken, but I do think there is a difference, and a large one.   Tim Maymon inserted himself publicly into the conversation for a long time.  The Ellensons have not, neither did Wes Matthews mom, and all the other moms and dads those douchebag Vadger fans would rail on because a kid chose not to go to UW-madison.  Those parents were in the background.  Tim Maymon was not.   He made himself part of the story.

I agree you -- while Twitter is part of the public conversation - there was nothing said that was malicious.  On the other hand the worst of the Maymon story came out in a non-public way.

While I think the reactions are silly, I do feel for Wally and family.  They have every understandable right to be dissapointed.

Obviously, you are free to feel this way and I understand why you do. However ...

I feel for families who have lost a child. I feel for families whose moms just found out they have breast cancer. I feel for families trying to scrape by on $24K/year. I feel for families who were just barely getting by and whose dad just lost his job. Etc.

I try real hard to keep things in perspective. I admit that I don't always succeed, but I try.

There is disappointment; no dispute there.  My point is that Wojo obviously knew what this would look like--publicly--and still made the move.  Weighing everything into consideration, Wojo believed the program is better off without Wally.  Wojo doesn't strike me as a vindictive coach.  In fact, I see him as a loyal, player's coach.  Why else would this happen?

I feel for families that lost a child to an illegal immigrant.  You are right, it is good to put things in perspective.

No. For you at least the real difference was that Maymon was recruited by Buzz. You were a constant defender of MU and Crean - so over the top that you were banned on the UW message boards on a regular basis. When Buzz arrived your brief love affair with UW began. Gasser was better than Blue, Buzz didn't recruit enough traditionals, UW was to be admired and emulated. Now that Buzz is gone the Badgers are once again evil and the enemy. Flip, flop, flip.

Everyone understands that Marquette basketball and any drama that surrounds it does not equal "real world" angst - but this is a Marquette basketball board, so things are discussed in that context. No need for a lecture.

Typically cynical, angry comment.

If you meant 100% accurate comment, you are correct.  If you meant I was pontificating and lecturing like you were, you are correct.  If you meant angry in that many people in this country should be appalled that those kids died...you are correct.

The one thing with using mobile is that it doesn't keep me logged in, unlike the computer.  So unfortunately it also means you aren't on ignore when I go mobile.  So, I'll be nice and answer your question.

I've never been in love with UW-madison, never had a love affair with them.  So as usual, you are wrong.  There is a difference between respecting their accomplishments and loving them.  What they did the last 5 years is remarkable, go back 10 years if you wish.  Tip my hat to them.  You would have to be an idiot not to recognize how well they have done, to become the best team in the state, and one of the best nationally.  Yes, respected, admired for what they did, but no less a rival, no love.

In terms of evil, they've always been evil and should be destroyed.  I don't know why this is difficult for you to comprehend, but many things over the years have been hard for you to comprehend.

I comprehend just fine. and like many here, I see right through you. It's not difficult.
