Title: Embracing Marquette Small Ball
Post by: NCMUFan on April 17, 2016, 07:11:52 AM
Marquette had a short aberration with Otule & Gardner and Fischer and Ellenson but remember the days of Dwight Burke, Dan Fitzgerald and Lazar playing center?  Embrace small ball and let true warriors come forth.

They will not be as small as you think,  JJJ, Reinhardt and Cheatham are all around 6'5" or 6'6", and Luke is 6'11", it is not the size of the person that matters, it is the
size of his heart to go after rebounds and lose balls.   They will all have to rebound,  play hard and hustle.   Hauser is 6'7" so they have some height.  With 13 kids, lets
see how they progress this summer.  MU will have veteran players next year, 3 seniors or 4 possibly, and 2 red-shirt juniors, so that is 5 or 6 veteran players, youth
will not be the reason for turning the ball over 17 or 18 times, it might be coaching or not enough talent.   They will have a strong bench this year.  At this time you might
be able to rank the talent, but Amin might be 12 or 13th or might start,  do not know.  Heldt might be 12th, but probably will be first off the bench.   There going to play
more players than you think.  I would say at least 10 will see time in the Big East games.

1) Solid post by Hoopster... I agree, it's going to take heart and yes we are shorter... but not THAT short.
2) With the possible 4:1 (4 out, 1 in) line up, we could maybe see something like WVU and Huggins did last year with a lot of 4 player switches... (not exactly like what Kentucky did a few years back with an A and B squad) but being able to switch out TC, HC, JJJ, KR with a MH, AR, DW, SC3/Wally/Hauser/Anim.

I'm nervous, but excited to see how it comes together.
