Title: MU recruit Lacy goes off for 47
Post by: TVDirector on December 20, 2007, 07:48:13 AM
wonder if we/he are serious about attending MU...

Bay View junior Johnnie Lacy poured in 47 points, but the Redcats could have used at least one more in an 87-86 loss to Milwaukee North on Wednesday.

Lacy, who came into the game as the area's sixth-leading scorer, shot 11 of 14 from the floor, drilling 8 three-pointers. His previous season high was 29 points.

Lacy is the No. 2-rated player in the junior class by Wishoops.net.

We've offered.  Lacy has attended Crean's camp

Biggest issue might be overlap with Tyshawn Taylor.  However, I think Crean might be able to work another guard into the lineup--especially a quick scorer with good outside shot.

I wouldn't worry about the overlap much, word is he's likely going to reclassify as a class of 2010 kid.  So they would only have 2 years together, and you would have to replace Acker and Cubillan so there would be more time available.

According to the JS awhile back, we are currently the leader for Lacy right now.

if lacy reclassifies as a 2010, i like the addition.  however, i'd rather see a pure 2 guard added to the line-up rather than another point/combo guard like lacy in 2009.  maurice creek is at the top of my list, followed by diamond taylor...

Reclassify?  Does that mean he's heading to a prep school?

It does mean that, but not in what we would consider the normal prep school way.  For most athletes, Prep School is post graduate.  They've gotten their diploma, but they need to improve grades in one area to meet the NCAA requirement.  Reclassifying is different.  Basically it's a nice way of saying that you'll be repeating a grade.  So he's a junior now, he would reclassify at the end of the year and be academically a junior again next year.  Since he would still only be allowed 4 years of sports by the state, he would go to a prep school for his senior year so that he could play somewhere.
