Nova putting on a clinic vs Iowa in the first game. Might put up 100 on them, 54-29 at half.

I hope Crying Piccolo Girl didn't graduate last year. It would be nice if she got a little redemption.

Iowa peaked on November 19.
Old fashioned arse whoopin going on.
Villanova looking like crap this half. Had they played like this in the second half when we played them in Philly we'd have ran them out of the gym. Meanwhile, Iowa can't even make a game of it.

Xavier has to win. I'll be dammed if it's a ND vs Wisconsin sweet 16 matchup.
Great. Xavier is playing awful.
I see Gard gets the same calls Bo always got. Wisconsin got away with slapping Pitt all night and just mugged Macura in the paint with no call.

Wisconsin is just not a good matchup for Xavier. X would have murdered Pitt, but I think Wisconsin wins here. X depends on streaks/runs and it's tough to go on one against a team that plays like UW.
Ugh. Bad enough that ND won; worse that SYRACUSE advances with one of the easier roads to the Elite 8. X is my last hope for redemption today. Plenty of time though.
Wisconsin-Madison does not make mistakes and it seems they've decided to make shots. They'll beat Xavier by 15.
I can just never understand how UW gets away with so many blatant fouls inside and how officials fall for all the flops.
Meanwhile, Davis gets called for a BS loose ball foul.
Funny looking at my Facebook feed right now and seeing zero Badger talk. Their fans are so fairweather, only care when they have a chance to win it all.
What happened in the MD game? Stopped paying attention abd now they're up 11.
MD Wins

Good game to mention this. Bad calls happen too often, and in this first half more of them favored Xavier.

Disagree. Started out grossly favoring UW. Later favored XU. Roughly 50:50 right now with a sludge bad call edge favoring UW.
X missed free throws, lay ups and Myles Davis was a disaster. Hopefully X pours it on in second half.
On side note, Buddy Hield is just a scoring machine and NBA teams that pass on him will regret it.

Agree with X shot selection, but there is some very questionable officiating right now.

Xavier with 11 players taller than 6'5. Marquette with 10 players, 3 taller than 6'6.

I don't understand why, when the less deep team is in foul trouble, you don't pound the ball inside. Kentucky made the same mistake yesterday.

I think Gard will do well, but I'm really glad Ben Jacobsen isn't going to be the coach of the Badgers next year.

Really unfortunate for UNI. Coach should have told them if you get in trouble and haven't used your dribble. Hold the ball, count to 9 and then throw the ball as far down court as you can.

Yes. And that is the last I'll comment on this.
One thing I've noticed the last 4 days is that Marquette's players seem thin/skinny/small compared to most of the teams playing in this tournament. I hope the strength and conditioning beefs up over the summer.

Have to chuckle at half the TAMU fans that left with a minute to play that didn't see that ending. What a pee down the leg fiasco by NIU.

And UNI goes down, what a disaster. Up 12 with 32 seconds left and a loss. Literally almost impossible.

Sure, we'd be fuming, but I'd be more upset at the fact that in the last 4 minutes and 22 seconds, my team scored 2 points.
More importantly, if Wisconsin can frustrate ND, Indiana and UNC.....how on earth would they only finish 6th or 7th in the Big East? LOL

I'm not saying that they'd finish that low, but there's certainly an argument. They were handled by the 8th place BE team on a neutral court and lost to the 7th place team at home.

UW could easily make it back to the FF. I think their toughest game is against ND. Brey's teams can play slow more comfortably than either IU or UNC.

Yes, 3 months ago before they were playing well. The argument here is that they didn't really improve, they only improved in "theory" because they beat up their conference brethren. That's silly talk.

Stop.
Rough day for Badger and Irish haters, which I am (as are many others here).
After watching that ND shot go in, Mrs. MU82 -- who hates ND almost as much as she loves Marquette -- said, "It feels like we just lost an NCAA tournament game."
I'm glad she was asleep and didn't have to watch Bucky win.
Sure X choked -- hello, Trevon Bluett, anybody home? -- but can't argue that it was a ballsy finish by Koenig.
And that was an easy, easy, easy charge call on Sumner.
Sumner's eventual revenge: He will be making millions in the NBA while Koenig enjoys a career in Europe, but that's little consolation for Sumner right now.
Edit: I shouldn't have said it was an "easy" call, because it's never easy for a ref to make such a call in the final seconds. But it was the right call, even an obvious call, IMHO.
Showalter was calling for a foul and falling before contact was even made. Sorry, not a foul. Not ever. Not close.

That is the craziest end I believe I've ever seen. While I prefer MU/Davidson, that probably tops it from a "how did that happen" perspective.
Koenig shot somewhat reminiscent of Novak to beat ND.
This is a soul crushing Sweet 16. UW, ND, UNC, Syracuse, I4, Duke again, only one BE team. Grateful UK didn't make it.
On the positive side, my entire Final Four is still alive in my bracket.

Am I the only one that doesn't enjoy this type of basketball? It wasn't think they went unconscious from 3 but rather UNI just couldn't break a press. 4 TO's in 25 seconds? TA&M only made one outside shot during that span. The rest were mostly uncontested layups. it was crazy but in a train-wreck kind of way. Give me the Badgers ending over that one.

It wasn't that it was well executed basketball. It wasn't. It was the complete improbability of it all.
I know the outcomes haven't been what MU fans have hoped for, but this past weekend shows why the NCAA tournament is so fantastic. Last second shots, improbable upsets, things you generally never see on a basketball court... In the span of one week plus a few hours, they name the field to great hype on national television and play 52 single elimination games. I can't think of a sporting event that approaches that type of intensity over such a short time frame.
The S16 and E8 games usually don't live up to this. Oftentimes because there are simply less games, but I find that the tournament settles into a bit of normalcy.
