Moot point. MU announced they would turn down any offer once they didn't get in the NIT.

Will never know
Who gives a chit, hey?
I pray Marquette never cheapens itself by playing in either. The very thought is hateful

I think a young team getting some kind of tournament experience is helpful. All you have to do is look how bad Seton Hall played, partly because they had no previous tournament experience. After all getting experience for a young team was one of the reasons we went to Europe. As it turns out the competition in the lesser tournaments here would of been tougher than what we played in Europe.

I can't help but feel that had Thomas Bilde been retained for the regular season that Marquette would have performed flawlessly and our NCAA Tournament viewing experience would be more joyful.

For an exhibition. We would have hated him if he did real games.

Another bad thought is 3 years and counting with no big dance appearance. That is fast approaching mid major level.

Good original thought. We should make sure to bring this up in every thread.

Marquette is not going to be invited to the CIT, because it caters to mid-majors. Marquette is not going to the CBI, because all the good teams have turned it down. While it was an OK tournament its first few years and did serve as a springboard to better ones in the future, it has declined to the point that this year's field is full of weak mid-majors with losing records. The final teams in the tournament will probably be 20-game winners, but they will be the likes of Idaho and Vermont.
These tournaments are not worth the effort or expense. Perhaps the Vegas tournament will be in the future, but seeing as how they had to cut it in half this year and still got mediocre teams, I am not counting on it. People keep freaking out about not going anywhere for three years. Big deal. Under the old format of the NIT, we would likely have been in two of those years. Now they have to make room for Monmouth, St. Bonaventure, and others who should be in the NCAA, but didn't make it so that they could allow in some weak big name team. That stat means nothing, no matter how many times people repeat it.
