Question:
New uniforms for next year?
Option 1: Yes
Option 2: No
After watching a lot of college ball this year, it has come to my attention that our uniforms are out of date. We've had them for quite some time and while it was unique and cool when first rolled out, compared to the rest, they appear tired and almost juvenile. in my opinion.
The question is... who would like to see Marquette unveil some new uni's for next year. seeing how it's a big anniversary year. feel free to post what you would like to see. I'm sure someone from the athletic department actually looks at this site.
Kinda liked da plain, white tee shirts. Maybe they gotta earn a new look, hey?
Definitely. It's past time for a refresh. Too many college (and high school) teams use that "color blocks" look. I like the Bucks look. Fresh and clean. Strip away all the extra flourishes. And go with a bold font. I hate the current "Marquette" type treatment across the front of the jersey.
Keep them as is or switch to these...

No. Worked nicely in the 70s, but that's where it should stay.
I'd like a return to the classic Wade-era uni.

I vote for a new jersey -- would love to see a portion of the Bumble Bee pattern incorporated -- maybe where the checkerboard is today.
New and crazy, that's our tradition, no tradition. I would tell Jordan Brand to push the limits. IMO, no one MU jersey should be loved but when grouped together you love the collage they create. I would also put 2 year term limits on our uniforms.
I'd love to see some form of the bumblebees come back, even if it's as an alternate jersey. Definitely like to see a change next year.

+1 on the pushing the limits. I don't think they need something new every 2 years but a refresh fairly often is a good idea if they are kinda crazy.
I hate our current uniforms so this was an easy vote for me. No piping on the sides, or at least not the alternating, eye-sore we have now.

Henry will look good in any of them next year ;)

I still like the piping. I could see reducing its presence, maybe use it in the edges near the collar and sleeves, but I've always liked that.
I like the current ones. Look around college basketball and they're better than 95% of the ones out there.

Agree 100&.
I love our current uniforms but would love new ones
I like our uniforms. Also I like to see consistency of imaging.
It's been 10 years. It's time. They look a bit dated and way too busy (i.e., the side piping colors (?) should be larger so there are less of them and each color stands out more). The shoulder swipe things don't look anymore either.
...just don't boring Marquette.
Voted yes just because it's the centennial. So we should do new
Also, won't next year be the 100 year anniversary AND the 40th anniversary of the National Championship? Seems like good timing.

Might as well use it as a pre-honoring of our NC run next year too ;D ;D
Maybe new uniforms when we start playing in the new arena?? 8-)
I like the format of our jerseys, but hate the skin tight style. Just a few years back they were much not loose fitting which I much prefer.
Wouldn't be opposed to new ones tho.

It would be awesome if they could do a more modern version of this. Does any team have jerseys and shorts of different colors these days?
I think they're great but now everybody has copied our style and it's not unique in the slightest and nobody would even recognize the uniqueness of them or the homage to our history.
100 year anniversary of Marquette basketball. New uniform every game ;D
Should be our 3rd jersey.
With a Golden Eagle, of course.

I don't know about NCAA but the Atlanta Hawks have alts that they mix and match
Would love to see the following:
- white & navy unis go back to the 90s style with some updating. Georgetown does this with their all gray version and Villanova did something similar.
- baby blue & gold unis are alternates and have script Marquette on the chest.
Both should keep the color blocks down the sides....
I'd vote for tweaking the current ones, if anything. This season the court was just redesigned with the tri-color so I'd think that pattern would stay, which I'm definitely in favor of.
Be careful what you ask for with new jerseys. There are some truly horrible designs around college basketball: adidas's cummerbunds, the highlighter fad, camo... It seems like adidas is behind most of the atrocities, so I guess we should be safe from those.
uniforms are irrelevant, do we need numbers and names on the shirts?
Why the name Marquette on the front? If your at the game you probably know which team is which.
It's late, I'm all wet, have at it......lol
Our uniforms are fine.
I say they progress throughout the years.
Start with exhibition games wearing Retro 1910 styled jerseys (with modern cut)
Then proceed through the decades
Break out a different one for the Wisconsin, National MU Day, and BE Tourney.
Siiiiiick.

Redesign = yes!
Drop the baby blue, use a retro "alt" uniform.
3 colors... Gold/Navy/White
it needs to be outside the box... considering the anniversaries and the history of MU uniforms.
I like the idea of a script font. I don't believe Marquette has ever had that on a jersey.

I think the floor looked like that last year at the BC, just without the Jumpman logo.

For what it's worth, when MU debuted the first version of the current unis at media day of that season, it was a total surprise.

Does MU even have a marketing department? Brewers had about 5 unique jerseys for sale just over the course of this year. Diverse selection.

The marketing department has little to do with jerseys. That is done in conjunction with Nike. And they did get a redo back in 2011, which isn't THAT long ago. They by and large kept a similar design to what they had before, but added the mesh print on back.
How often do people think college basketball teams refresh their uniforms?
NIKE's personal team, Oregon, gets a new one every other game. Marquette must be way down that list.

Not bad. Bring back Bo and the bumble bee unis.
I'd like to see all 3 of these uniforms (and would happily buy a modernized version of each):
Be careful what you wish for. There are many awful jerseys in college basketball, like neon Notre Dame or blue on black DePaul.
Our tricolor is pretty distinctive. I'd be up for random throw backs periodically. But if you have a great jersey, don't abandon it.

You do get that Phil Knight is an Oregon Alumnus and Nike has donated just about every recent building. Know some alumni and they call it Nike U.
When I called Oregon NIKE's personal team I tried to imply Knight has personal ties to the school.
All that said, I don't see why a request to step up uniform creativity would be rejected. It's time to request a fresh look and NIKE to do their job.
Oregon stole Pintens, damn them to hell.
When the coaches went to Oregon last year, I've got to assume they were discussing 100 year jerseys. You don't make that trip just to talk about a pair of shoes for a tournament in Brooklyn.
The idea that they aren't in communication with Nike about this kind of stuff is really silly. They are likely in continuous conversation with them.

But I really think yellow/gold will be the primary color in the new uni set. We know that Wojo is biased against baby blue due to the Duke/UNC rivalry, so I doubt we see much of that color. Also, just about every other team in our conference wears navy as one of their primary colors, and I think we will want to stand out more.
