When does Henry set up an interview and announce to the world where he plans to take his talents?
What a time table to deciding to go pro or not look like?
If I were him I would do it now so he can start working out full-time in preparation for the NBA.
Fwiw, Karl Anthony Towns & Okafor declared on April 9th last year, but then again they played deep into the tourney.
Are there many examples of top 5 picks who didn't make the tourney to reference?
Probably soon.
And probably why we're doing no Vegas16 or anything.

Could always play without Henry. Assuming he's gone, it's probably be better that way.
If he leaves, I'm glad he was a warrior and came to MU. He was never coming if Buzz was the coach, so it was good to have him for one year. I hope he's here another year, but obviously would not be surprised if he is NBA bound. He really needs to work on his athleticism and 3 point shot in the next year.
Has until April 24th to enter draft.
Has until June 13th to withdraw.
Here's your announcement:
He gowne.
Rules are different this year. As long as a player doesn't hire an agent, he can wait until after the NBA combine to declare.
if Henry knows what he wants to do, I hope he declares early to reduce the dithering. And make sure Wojo can pick up a PF in the April signing period.
And if he decides to play one more year, I hope he tells us tomorrow.

Probably would have had stone though. He was pretty good.
I don't think Henry is ready to contribute in the NBA. He's too slow and would get abused on both ends of the floor by every starting NBA power forward. I'm not sure how staying an extra year will change that. Love him but imho I think he will be a bust in the league. Just not athletic/tough/strong enough to compete with the big boys.

No chance we would've gotten Stone.
You couldn't be more wrong on where Hank is now and what his future as a pro is.

It would be really weird though lol. "So we're just gonna finish up our season in this late March tourney while our lottery pick sits out".

Pretty obviously a major reason they are taking a pass. No way HE wanted any part of some stupid meaningless tournament.

So the long-term benefit of playing (or not playing) in a tournament is dictated by a kid who plans to leave the program in a few days? Yeah, that makes sense.

Welcome to the real world. Not the only reason, but you're kidding yourself if you want to pretend it wasn't a significant factor. Frankly, wouldn't have been particularly fair to him to ask him to play.
If we assume HE told coach he is leaving, anything he wants is irrelevant. If Wojo makes any decisions for the team based on what HE thinks after that, he should be fired.

Sure, but to go to Vegas to play, and likely lose without him, isn't going to do a damn thing for the near- or long-term future of the team.
First, winning or losing in the tournament is of little importance. Gaining the experience of playing in another tournament is what Wojo based his decision on. If you look at his comments about Vegas, clearly he sided with gaining more benefit from not playing and instead transitioning into spring training.
Second, I don't care if it is HE or another player who either wants or does not want to play. Wojo cannot make decisions for the good of the program based on what one player wants or doesn't want, especially one who is definitely leaving the program. It is no disrespect to HE. If HE says "I refuse to play in the tournament b/c I'm going pro." Fine. Just don't play him in the tournament. It's not a reason to cancel or not go if Wojo believes it would benefit the program.

Agreed, I'd rather play the Vegas16
without Henry to start preparing for next season. Think of them as preseason games.
Vegas can't fill out their tournament field. Here's who is in the CBI-
Morehead State
Siena
Omaha
Duquesne
Western Carolina
Vermont
Albany
Ohio
Houston Baptist
UNC-Greensboro
Montana
Nevada
Pepperdine
Eastern Washington
Idaho
Seattle
Not much benefit there outside of shopping for new buy game opponents. The last thing I'd want is for one of the guys to hurt themselves playing Houston Baptist, and lose any significant offseason development time. That's where the improvement will come from, not a few extra games.
MU absolutely made the right call here.

Fair enough. I'd still rather see the guys play without Henry just to get a sense of where we're at, but I get your point.

He certainly isn't wrong on this one.
I have no idea what names would be on our roster if Buzz were still here. Neither do you or Chico. But judging by what he's done (from scratch) at Virginia Tech we do know one thing - that roster would be better than our current one.

While I don't know what the roster would look like had Bazz stayed, I do know that it would not have contained either Henry Ellenson or Diamond Stone this season.
