Spent some time trying to find an active message board for this team but failed to find anything. I DID however find a fairly awesome directory of ncaa team message boards (http://collegesportsinfo.com/links/) (and submitted a request to add MUScoop.com of course!). This might link be worth putting over in the External Links frame to the left...
What I did find (again) was the northwestern state athletic page (http://www.nsudemons.com/sports/mbasketball/default.asp) which has SOME basketball content on it
One thing I found at that site of particular note is that they webcast "all" of their basketball games (including the upcoming one at Marquette) at: sportsjuice.com (http://www.sportsjuice.com/broadcaster2.aspx?bid=Mjg%3d-iOoGqGzYD64%3d)
They have a game tonight against Centenary that'll be webcast at that link as well - in case anyone wants to scout them for us (game starts at 7:45 CST) ;)
They're record is 3-2.. their two losses came from games at "Oklahoma State (79-76 - very close)" (http://www.nsudemons.com/sports/mbasketball/stats/NSUMBB02.HTM) and at Louisville (100-87 - closer than the score shows considering Louisville was down by 11 at the half) (http://www.nsudemons.com/sports/mbasketball/stats/NSUMBB03.HTM). they've won at home against Utah State (88-71) (http://www.nsudemons.com/sports/mbasketball/stats/NSUMBB01.HTM), Henderson State (84-64) (http://www.nsudemons.com/sports/mbasketball/stats/NSUMBB04.HTM) and on the road against New Orleans (71-67) (http://www.nsudemons.com/sports/mbasketball/stats/NSUMBB05.HTM). Other items of note are that they:

Did Northwestern St lose a lot of players from last years squad that shocked the nation in the NCAA tourney, or is it pretty much the same team, if it is, we can't take them lightly
Looking at their roster, it's not a young team. (Note, they have 18 players listed...not sure which ones are walk ons). Nonetheless, they lost 5 of their top 6 scorers from last year. Luke Rogers seems to be the only one that has returned from that group.

I was in Detroit for that game last year against Iowa. My friends and I were cheering for Northwestern State from the tip off (we figured why not? we have no ties to Iowa), and as the game progressed more and more people joined us.
However, Iowa lost that game with their very very poor play. In fact it was a poorly played game by both teams, Northwestern State didn't really look that great either, but they played well enough to never be quite out of it, hanging around just behind Iowa until that final shot when they went ahead. It was a boring game actually until the thrilling finish, very sloppy with too many turnovers and bad shots on both sides. Iowa playing well should have been able to beat them easily.
Northwestern State played much better in their next game, losing to West Virginia. WVU did the same thing to them that they did to us, if I remember correctly. Every time NW St started to come close where you thought they had a chance, WVU hit a big three or went on a 5-0 run or something to take the wind out of 'em.

Agree 100% (though that lesson was--I hope--learned against Idaho State). Northwestern St. has played tough this year, even w/ only one starter back.
The Classic field is deceptively solid this year.
At the end of last night's post game interview, Crean reeled off the resumes of all of the teams in the Classic. He suggested that these teams were plenty capable of knocking us out if we weren't ready. Coach speak, but still.

Yeah, you'll never hear a coach talk down an opponent. But we do need to be ready to play against NW St., Princeton's offense is always a challenge, and we know what ND State can do :)
We've got a target on our backs now...which is nice, actually...I think our team is mature enough to deal with it.

HOOPS: Demons extend homecourt win streak to 17 straight, sixth-best nationally
NATCHITOCHES – Junior forward Trey Gilder scored a career-high 25 points Tuesday night, including two free throws with four seconds left to help Northwestern State hold off Centenary 89-86 to extend the nation's seventh-longest homecourt winning streak to 17.
The Demons, winning their third straight, improved to 4-2 while posting their third straight win over Centenary (2-4) in the state's oldest active college basketball rivalry, dating back to 1922. Almost overcoming an 11-point deficit with 3:42 remaining, the Gentlemen had a chance to force overtime on the game's last play, but 18-point scorer Tyrone Hamilton was off the mark on a spinning 3-point try off an inbounds pass with 0.6 seconds left.
Gilder spearheaded prolific production by the Demons' bench. Northwestern's non-starters outscored their Centenary counterparts 51-32, including a 20-3 advantage over the last 12 minutes in a game featuring eight ties and 12 lead changes.
Sophomore guard Keithan Hancock added a career-best 11 points in 10 minutes off the bench for NSU, which had 11 players get at least nine minutes while 10 scored.
Senior point guard Kennan Jones, second in the nation in assists with an 8.4 average, scored 12 points and had six assists for NSU.
Along with Hamilton, Centenary had four more players in double figures, getting 16 apiece from Alexander Starr, Bryan Baumann and Larry Logan. Nick Stallings added 11 for the Gentlemen.

I found a little bit about Northwestern State in a College Basketball Preview
It says....
Everything went right for Northwestern St. last year- even winning a $100,000 video highlight contest for Jermiane Wallaces last second shot that defeated Iowa in the NCAA tournament. He and three other starters from last year's "Demons of Destiny" are now gone, as Coach Mike McConathy now faces a reloading process. Fortunately for Northwestern State, it's a rebuilding season across the conference, which could allow the Demons to remain a player in the SLC race. Senior Jermaine Spencer(5.3ppg) and junior Colby Bargeman(5.6ppg) are the top returners.
Judging by the stats, their strength is in their frontcourt with their two leading scorers making high percentage shots. Seems like a good game for Barro and Lott to get some things done.
