Whoever typed that up should be fired.
Saw that. Heads should roll.
WARRIORS!!!
I saw that. Wondered if someone was going to bring it up here.
We all know the responsible party. The pc police. ESPN has their hand in there somehow.

Yes. ESPN drew up a graphic used on FS1. ::)

If it was ESPN they would have Photoshopped Ben Simmons's face over Butch Lee's.

LOL...that was good.
Revisionist history at it's worst. It is really just being dishonest.

More likely just a mistake
That is sickening.

More likely just a mistake
Earlier today, I saw one of those articles designed to make us feel old that pointed out that high school freshman this year were born in 2002. This kind of stuff was bound to happen -- it's been 22 years since the name change. Interns at these networks have never known Marquette as anything but the Golden Eagles (just typing that breaks my heart). Sooner or later, the old names and imagery will fade away, despite our best efforts.
Just like it would have faded away if they'd left the name the same and merely changed the imagery.

Probably some young intern, who wasn't even alive at the time, did the graphics.
But let's all be outraged.

I sent the image to Fox Sports president Eric Shanks via email this morning....he was my boss years ago. Told him jokingly to get his @#%$# together. He's an IU guy, so he may not care.

Would not be surprised. They think they own all sports.
This is what happens when we don't pay our teachers well. We have history classes being taught without proper discussion of the Marquette Warriors.

I blame Crean and Larry Williams.
I kinda threw up a little in my mouth....
FS1 should run the pic again and someone like Raf, should make a correction on TV indicating the error and the correction as a trubute to Al and this team who won it all as the Marquette Warriors!
Another pic with the 1970 Warriors should run when this bunch wins the NIT!
I'm actually appalled by the fact that I was reading it and not noticing what was wrong! I guess I have somehow entered the acceptance phase.

Holding it down, son.
I also teach them the Johnnies are really the Redmen.

I was just glad they reminded people that we were/are winners :-\

Not so fast. If there are winners, then there are losers, which is a hurtful, offensive phrase.
The enlightened terminology is "advanced to the position of highest ordinal value."
