Title: Senior Night
Post by: Dr. Blackheart on February 29, 2016, 09:19:02 PM
QuoteSenior Night Arrives For Michael Mache

Forward Michael Mache will be honored prior to Tuesday night's game as part of the program's Senior Night ceremony.

Mache, a former walk-on who was awarded a scholarship in mid-January, joined the program one year ago along with his twin brother Matthew after both served for multiple seasons as managers for the women's basketball team.

The Glen Ellyn, Illinois, native has appeared in eight career games for the Golden Eagles and scored his first career basket last season against Villanova in the BIG EAST tourney. He is majoring in operations and supply chain management and finance and will graduate this May.

Kudos to one of the Twin Towers...and team captain

I don't know the precedent with one and dones, but I was curious if Henry was slated to participate. Granted, it seems like that type of move is reserved more for juniors leaving early.

No one leaving early gets a senior day.

Whatever happened to the other brother? Graduate early?

Edit: Mache & Marotta killing the rotation players:

Proud of the Glenbard West Hilltopper as both an MU and GW grad.

That would be like telling him to not comeback. I will be surprised if he does not go, but I would not encourage him to go.

As was mentioned yesterday somewhere, what'll be interesting is if the game is not in doubt down the stretch whether substitutions are made in the final minute to allow Henry to receive a standing ovation from the crowd.

Frankly, my ideal scenario would be a 15 point MU lead with JT3 clearing his bench at the 2 minute mark allowing Mache to come in for Luke and the three starting guards to sit.  Then at the 1 minute mark Wojo calls TO so Wally can come in for Henry followed by Cam can substituting  for Michael, each to his own ovation.

Is no one planning on attending Henry's NIT home game?

I'm confident we'll go if able but to assume a home game at this point......

We should beat Georgetown tonight. But our recent history on senior night has been less than stellar.

I will definitely be there, but MU needs two more wins to get an NIT bid.

And likely 3 more for a home NIT game.

I think you're wrong there eng.  Some brackets have us around a #5 seed right now.  Win tonight and my bet is we'll be home assuming a win over DePaul or St. John's in NYC.  A 20 win team with a Frosh first-teamer is going to be placed at home because it'll look good on TV if for no other reason.
