Seems like mu vs va tech match up in nit has a good chance....that would be interesting
Our NIT bid may be determined by how many upsets there are in the conference tournaments. The NIT first takes the conference champions, who do not get NCAA bids.
Well, one thing I know I won't be doing is keeping an updated checklist to see which champs win and lose as I hope against hope for an NIT bid.
Although if some Scooper does keep such a tally, I supposed I'd sneak some peeks!
Last year that consumed 10 of the 32 slots. I believe that was the high water mark. Just win baby.
The only way I would be interested in the NIT is if we got a home game against that F-ing Hillbilly.
Kicking his a*s back to the Moonshine Mountains would be worth the price of admission!

What if he wins?
How dare you think that way ;D
I don't focus on NIT especially random match ups until the real show is no longer possible.

That's the necessary mindset for the players.
But since we have zero effect on the outcome of the games, I have no problem destroying my work day by looking at every possible scenario.

You mean that hillbilly who took us to 3 straight regional appearances?

He won't. We guarantee it!
I wouldn't want to be on this board the evening after that game

Buzz didn't take Madison to 3 straight regional appearances

No, I mean the classless moonshiner who tanked the program in his last year here.
I mean the classless Hillbilly who showed his ignorance on the way out by slapping around a conference that at the moment has the number one and five teams in the country.
I mean the classless Hillbilly who had he gotten his way would have created institutional control problems for Marquette.
Bottom line, people leave jobs all the time. It's how you deport yourself when you leave that separates people of class and character from, lets just say, people who don't appreciate that there are others in the world who have different opinions about things.
I would like nothing better than to have his backside on a banner in the rafters of the BC. Kind of a hunting trophy!
Serious question:
When is the NIT selection date/show? Is it the same day as the NCAA selection Sunday?
Historically the bids came out Sunday night.
The Georgetown/MU game may be the battle for the NIT bid. I may be wrong, but I think Georgetown got an NIT bid while we were left out with a 17-15 record. The NIT may take Georgetown over us, if they beat us twice. I believe a few years ago the NIT dropped the requirement to have a winning record. Of course the NIT can take more than one team from the Big East, but again our RPI is low by NIT historical standards. I think we need 20 wins to be guaranteed an NIT bid. Of course the big unknown is how many conference champions do not win their conference tournament and do not get an at large NCAA bid.
