First time I've ever used the word "perplexing" in a solid 5 years.
Okay...Love, love, love Fitz. He played with more aggression going towards the glass, than I've ever seen him show before. I love seeing him show no hesitation in going right in the middle of the 'bigs' to mix it up for a chance to grab a rebound.
However, he never pulled the trigger on any shots. I remember seeing countless situations where he would pass up open shots (would've rather had Fitz shoot a majority of those 3's then James), and force a sometimes difficult pass resulting in turnovers.
Don't know if he's struggling with his confidence on the 3 ball, but it's very unique to see a guy have hesitation at his shot, yet crash the boards with reckless aggression.
Regardless...great to see him hustle his ass off....but if we're going to make any noise this year, we're going to need his outside shooting.
couldn't agree more. @ the game i noticed this as well, he just needs to let 'er fly. once he hits a few and builds up his confidence he can make a serious contribution, not only hitting some threes, but acting as a novak (not comparing, just saying) and freeing up everyone else for open looks.
Both of you are correct. Fitz has definitely turned into a beast inside and grabbing boards, but in doing that has lost his knack for being our best shooter. For all we know that may be what Crean is asking of him, but if someone on the team doesn't step up as a 3 point threat it could cause for some problems down the line.
have said it before this season...
he's looking like a man without a country out there.
figured he'd be much more cozy without having to run the point.
