Nebraska pulls of the upset, fans rush the floor? against the 16th ranked team? I think this is the lowest ranking i've seen a team rush the floor after beating, kinda funny.
it made me think though, when was the last time MU rushed the floor? I'm pretty sure its about impossible to rush the floor at the Bradley Center anymore, but I don't think that was the case a few years ago. I'm fairly certain that @ the Uconn win in 06 they didn't allow a floor rushing.
anyone have any good MU floor rushing stories?
Yeah they put barricades up now around the student section preventing people from storming the court.
All of us in section 106 wanted to storm the court against UCONN but they do it for safety so you can't be too upset.
The greatest rushing for me at Marquette actually was at the girls soccer game two years ago when they were playing defending national champion Notre Dame. I believe there were close to 3,000-4,000 people at that game as it set a Valley Fields record. A good portion of students stormed the court. DPS was pretty cool with it but then again there's no way they could have stopped the number of students we had!
That's almost worse than WVU storming the court two years ago after beating Pitt. They were ranked 14th and Pitt 9, WVU was favored to win, and of course playing at home.
The last time I remember the MU students rushing the floor was when MU won the CUSA Championship against Cincinnati in 2003.
After the Cincy win, Beginning in 03-04, they started putting up the barricades to keep the students back. I understand why they do it, but there aren't many things more exciting than rushing the court after a great upset.

I remember rushing the floor when we beat Notre Dame....neither team was ranked. We had lost to them so many times it just had to be done. 1990 or 1991, can't remember.

2003... I was on the court. It was a blast! I was also on the court after every big win between '92-'96. The players loved it and the students were very respectful. There was never a point that anyone was ever at risk. You put barricades up, you put yourself in a position that someone will get hurt.
Barricades or not, if the students want to get on the court, they can. The staff at the Bradley Ctr needs to be smart enough to understand the situation and react accordingly.
i remember those barricades at the UCONN 06 game. i saw one guy try, and he actually got around them by going through the team's bench. security just shoved the drunk into a pile of chairs. :D
I never understand why they put the barricades up in non big games. Was anyone really considering storming the court after beating Sacramento State by 31?
The last time students rushed the court was in the Loserville victory in spring of 2004. I know because I was the second guy on the court ;-)
If I remember correctly, we rushed the Mecca floor in the quarterfinal NIT win over South Florida in the 93-94 season. God that was nearly 14 years ago.
yea i laughed when i saw them put up barricades for the Sac. St. game that was hilarious... like anyone was really planning on rushing the court
