Golden Eagles start strong but fade in non-conference win

Marquette earned the win over Stetson, but it was anything but uplifting for the Golden Eagles.

So for the second win in a row we feel bad about it.  Really?  I know we all want to be a top 10 team, but these guys are very young, play hard and are learning without the benefit of one or two senior leaders to show them the way. Lapses like these are common especially for young teams. Lighten-up Francis.

Normally I'd be inclined to agree but when the head coach says inconsistency is maddening and killing them but he has no idea how to fix it....that generates significant concern

I can find dozens of interviews from much more experienced coaches who have said the same thing. It's basically coach speak for "having a team full of freshmen really sucks sometimes"

I don't buy that, why not just say we're young instead of I don't know what to do? Can't recall seeing similar quotes from other coaches in the same position...have to take your word for it

He doesn't want to create excuses for his own team.
