1. I understand it is difficult to maintain intensity with a 22 point lead 10 minutes in, but seriously?
2. How many offensive fouls did Henry and Luke combine for tonight?
3. Which was worse, Henry's pass to Luke (?) or JJ's pass to the second row?
4. Luke fouling the 5'8 guard or Haanif needlessly fouling a dribbler 50 ft from the basket?
5. Wojo warned them. We all heard it. Then they went out and did the exact opposite of what he exhorted.
6. The fans who stayed away..... good call.
7. JJ's best game offensively. Has he finally found consistency?
8. I do like Duane and JJ starting. Would like to see Traci with them.
9. On to Butler. How many will Dunham and Jones combine for?
10. Stetson, way to stay in the game and put a scare into MU. Well done.
At least we look consistent regardless of the quality of opponent.
1. Entiendo que es difícil mantener la intensidad con un punto de 22 minuto 10, pero en serio?
2. ¿Cuántas faltas ofensivas hicieron Henry y Lucas se combinan para esta noche?
3. ¿Cuál era peor, pase de Henry Lucas (?) O un pase de JJ a la segunda fila?
Etc...
This team is only decent when JJJ controls the majority of the half court possession.
And I say decent because still when he finds the right guy 50% of time he's either A. Not paying attention(Luke), B. Afraid to shoot it(Haanif) or C. Bricks the shot(everyone)
Regrettably your analysis is spot on. No point in saying more.
Henry's worst game so far. For a potential lottery pick, he should have gone nuclear against this team, but:
3 for 12 from field, 6 turnovers and 4 fouls.
Fischer was so bad, Wojo sat him the last eight minutes.
JJJ and Cheatham had it tonight. JJJ with 22/6, Cheatham with 13/9. Good playing.
Duane scoreless in second half after fantastic first.
Cohen is like 2 for last 15 from three and needs to sit more.
How Henry and Fischer don't completely dominate a team of this stature is truly confusing.
Good win. We are 14-7 now , a good optic . JJJ has Wojos confidence now. Duane also looking solid. We need those two guys to keep doing hat they are doing. Opens things up for the Bigs

But would you put Cheatham on the bench to start those three? I wouldn't. I like having one of Duane or JJ being a scorer off the bench (as compared to Wally being an energy guy off the bench). Unfortunately, JJ seems to get into the game better as a starter.

Iowa is a top 5 team in the country. Yes, Henry had 3 points and 8 rebounds in that game, but this was Stetson and no one on that roster would even be on the Iowa team.

Oh, so we're now grading Henry's performances based on your expectations of how he should have played against particular competition? Make sure you announce those at the beginning of each game, so we can judge appropriately.

1) We won
2) We played the second line a good bit of the game, giving them experience against a mid-major. Sooner or later that experience will come in handy.
3) See Item 1.
4) See ya Saturday at Butler.

Uh, yes.... Henry is regarded as an NBA lottery pick and one of the best freshman/player in the country. His talents are off the charts.
I would argue that everyone on this board would expect Henry to have a better game against an undermined Stetson team as opposed to a top five team in the country. That is my expectations.
This team is a complete dumpster fire.

I have very little hope for this team going forward into the rest of Big East play, but I was encouraged by how JJJ, Duane and Haanif played. All shot the ball well and limited turnovers. Sans those three and Wally, it was difficult to watch everyone else, Henry and Luke in particular.

Gents, SLU's trajectory is nothing but down. I realize some of you are joking, but then I wonder if you are. SLU is in deep trouble, getting worse by the year, likely firing their coach after this year. No recruits of any type of repute.
MU's record getting better, good class coming in, extremely young.
Let's get a little dose of reality. Playing the long game here, which I realize most Americans can't handle more than like 4 minutes of.
My big thought of this game and several this year. We actually are over emphasizing getting the ball into the post, which leads to poor ball movement. Often when there is a guy wide open a pass or two away on the perimeter, the ball stops for 2-3 seconds in each players hands as they look to see if the big can get position.
That lets the defense rotate back over and makes D easy. We need the ball moving fast and the bigs expecting an entry two passes away.
This team ran a beautiful high low pass from Luke to Henry for the first play of the game resulting in a foul that should have been a basket and one; AND THEN THEY NEVER RAN THAT PLAY AGAIN the next 39 minutes. I just don't get it. I would love to know what this team does in practice. Do they just screw around. We got out to a big lead because they couldn't hit anything and we couldn't miss. But once shots got harder to come by it was JJJ driving and everyone else just watching.
Again I don't know what Wojo is trying to achieve. What is "Wojo ball". It doesn't appear to me that they are playing any more as a team than they were when the season started in November.
Very scared heading into the meat of the BE season. When will we play enough consistent minutes together to win another game??
Maybe Haanif should come off the bench just for a scoring spark. Have Traci, Duane and JJJ start with Fisch and Hank. And if Traci picks up two early fouls, well it's not the end of the world.

The eleven rebounds included 4 missed tip ins. Three of which were on the same possession. Henry tipped the ball three times and than Haanif got the rebound and was fouled.

Plenty of video on the MU website that show their practices if you wish to watch.
The way the team is playing right now, there is a reasonable chance that tonights game was the last win of the season.

"Consistency" suggests it's something a person does over and over again.
If you have to ask if a guy has found consistency ... he hasn't! (At least not yet.)
Otherwise, I agree JJJ played well ... and with pretty much everything else you mentioned.
I'm not sure Henry and Luke have combined to play worse. I'll just chalk it up as a bad game. It will be a distant memory after we beat Butler. Go Marquette!

That was such a smoke screen...
I realize it's still somewhat early, but I'm so unimpressed with what Wojo's done with this team
I think I had gotten used it looking like we wanted it more than the other team. I could turn on any game, and even if we were outgunned, I was confident that we were going to give 'em hell. It's tough when that goes away. Suddenly we aren't getting to loose balls, not playing aggressively.... that's the toughest part as a fan to adjust to. I don't think it's Wojo's fault. The guy seems to want to run out and get every loose ball for himself. But then sometimes it looks like the players are expecting that to actually happen so they don't bother.
All that said, I think the future will be brighter for this squad. I think that transition of coaches just takes a little longer than we ever want it to.

Despite the urge of some to not judge/get angry because everyone is young and trying really hard. This was the only thing I wanted to see this year. My frustration is not the record as much as I feel like I have watched the same game on a loop since christmas break.
Also, youth has re-emerged as an official excuse - now back in the quotes in the post-game interviews. Luke, Duane, Sandy need to step up and start playing like they are or are about to (sandy) be upper classman.
To be fair the progression of JJJ has been amazing - getting better every game -- and doing what i hoped the group above would do.

Agreed about all of this.
Luke seems to be the same player he was when he started last season.
Duane appears to be hitting some sort of wall after progression last year and early this year.
Sandy started much better this year than last, then fell apart/regressed the last 8 games.
JJJ had a rough start to the year but is improving each half over the last 8.

Basketball is a game of runs. We had a big one in the first half. They had a not as big one in the second half. We finished the game strong and ipso facto we win by double digits.
That second half stunk real bad. But it shouldn't negate what we saw in the first half. The only reason we're down is because we had a big lead at half shrink by 12 in the second half. If we had beaten them by seven each half instead of by 26 in the first and -12 in the second we would be fine.
Those turnovers were brutal though. To have more turnovers in a game than Stetson is really bad. Seems like freshmen pgs aren't always the immediate answer

Also fair to say that thru 21 games his two 20 point games have been against Grambling & Stetson at home & is averaging 5.8 ppg in Big East play. JJJ will be critical to lift MU over Butler this weekend

This pretty much encapsulates what is frustrating to me. Lack of overall, marginal improvement. Every time we see a progression in one area or with one player, we see a regression elsewhere.
Unless we look good v. Butler, I think I may just wish for the season to be over after Saturday.

Yeah I agree with willie here. I'm not all that concerned about Duane.
I am concerned with...
**Point guard play is very poor. Carter shows flashes but constantly gets in foul trouble and has no offensive game. Duane could possibly have been the answer, but was not given that opportunity.
**Luke is limited offensively. Pretty much the same player since when he got on the floor just over a year ago. He is what he is.
**I see no replacement whatsoever for Henry. If our rebounding sucks now, what is it going to be like when the conference's leading rebounder leaves?
**Sandy Cohen has hit the wall for the second year in a row. Still not sure if he is a high major player.
