Wow, he finally died.  He's one of those guys that has been on the dead pool list forever.

Godfather "star"?

He'll always be Fish to me, reduced to one-liners about constipation.

Me, too.  The amazing thing is that Abe Vigoda was only 54 when that show went on the air.  He looked like he was 80 then.  Amazing he lasted so long.

Barney Miller was actually a funny show, though the Fish character wasn't.

Uh oh, if Lemmy's dead, Abe is dead ... now Keith Richards should start to worry

Conan did a tribute to Abe: https://vid.me/AcMg

Fish?  WTF.

Can you get me off the hook Tom, you know, for old times sake?

Sorry Sally, can't do it.

A great scene (one among many). Just sat through the entire trilogy the other night.

He actually had to do PR telling people he was alive after People Mag commented on "the late Abe Vigoda" something like 30 years ago.  Even then he looked 94 though so putting him in your dead pool has made a ton of sense for a while.

Love the Godfather but i grew up on Barney Miller so he'll always be Fish to me - unbelievable that 95% of that series was shot in one room with maybe 3 cameras.

For whatever reason, I never watched Barney Miller when it was on the air, but I did watch it in syndication and often laughed my arse off. But you're right ... Fish was just about never funny. Poo-poo and pee-pee jokes haven't been particularly humorous to me since I was, oh, 6.

Tom Hagen: You know how they're going to come at you?
Michael: They want to arrange a meeting between me and Barzini. On Tessio's ground. Where I'll be safe.
[Hagen is silent for a long moment]
Tom Hagen: Tessio. I always thought it would be Clemenza.
Michael: It's the smart move. Tessio was always smarter.

RIP Tessio.
